This course is dying a slow death
With three 9 hole courses and a driving range located just northwest of the GTA, you’d think this course would be set for success. Unfortunately it’s obvious that no money is being spent on maintenance. From the entrance off the main road, to the clubhouse to the driving range, to the cart paths, to the tee boxes, to the fairways, to the sand traps, everything is decrepit. The tee boxes are bare dirt and weeds. The fairways are burnt and full or weeds. The bunkers are mostly mud. And signage around the course is very scant. With an usual layout, finding the first hole proved difficult. At least the greens were watered and cut. Even at $60 for 18 holes and walking, it’s not a good value. I played the Blue and Red courses. Both were fairly interesting and challenging. If only they looked after the place, it has the potential to be a really nice facility. Alas in its current condition, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
This course has potential.
This course has the potential to be a good one, would need to have better quality grounds. The tee box's are right hard, bent a few plastic tees trying to set them in the ground. The fairways, mediocre, if you don't have carry don't worry they are hard enough you will get a lot of yardage on the roll. The roughs are easy to hit out of. The greens are hit or miss some are good have ball response others not so. Golfed the course with a friend who did years back and said the course was a lot nicer back then. Mind you it is early July and not too much rain this year but still feels rightfully dry and hard. Overall $80 for 18 and a power cart.
Awful
Hands down the worst maintained golf course I've been to in Ontario. They should just sell the course to a buyer who will do proper maintenance on it. Charging $60 for a round there is absolutely absurd. I wish more golfers would be honest when rating this course.
Getting better
Seems like bantys is under new ownership and they are trying to get it back to what it once was. The lack of rain hasn’t helped the fairways much but the greens were in excellent shape, the best in years. Rough was cut and fairways short. They grew some fescue in spots making it play tough. Overall it looks positive for old bantys, just need a little rain to help it out.
Playing
We played fast very good pace problem of the course was kept up.it could be a nice course greens don't hold tee boxes very hard to put tees in tee off
Saw 2 dead birds
Course not very well maintained. Grass needs some water. Also saw not one but two dead birds on the course. I guess you get what you pay for.
Quantity over Quality
Probably one of the most underwatered course I have ever played. Even fairway shots feel like your hitting off of cement. I would rather play a course with a decently kept 18 holes than a course like this that has 3 poorly kept 9s. Definitely a missable course.
You get what you pay for
Over the years, I've played this course many times. In the years prior to the ownership change, the Roost was never a Top 10 in the area, but it was decently maintained. After 3 years of decline to near bottom on the acceptable scale, this year shows marginal conditioning improvement. The greens are reasonable and the fairways are at least mowed to an acceptable height with far less weed content. However, the lack of irrigation gave us fairways that almost played like asphalt, with safe-looking drives taking crazy deviant bounces into the knee high fescue that lines practically every fairway. I usually never lose a ball here - this time I lost 5. Yes, we haven't had much rain, but isn't that exactly why golf courses have irrigation systems? I'll likely play here again, but I'll try to time it following a good rain.
Why I return I don’t know
Nothing changes at this place. The pace of play will have you taking 6 hours to finish 18. Holes. I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN.
WOW - Horrible Experiance
I had a tee-off time for 9:50 and they ran out of golf carts. We finally got two golf carts and teed off at 11:30. The tee boxes where in really bad shape. If you go, you will need a hammer to knock your tee into the ground. The fairways are starving for water as well as the greens. This course has been let go with zero up-keep. Looks like they are waiting to tear it down to build houses at some point.
No golf carts
They made us wait an hour and 40 minutes to get a golf cart on Father’s Day.
only issue is we did plan to walk 18 holes, There was a cart issue. Luckily we did get a cart for the last 9 holes which this is a course that isn't designed to be walk. average yards of 300 on white and red tees. Thankfully the blue course wasn't as long ....
Meh!
Had mechanic in on a Saturday replacing batteries on the busiest day of the week
Showed up early to hit the driving range. And staff didn’t rake balls from night before so couldn’t use the driving range
Staff didn’t wanna give us 1 cart showing up 45 mins early cause they were down 20 carts on the busiest day of the week
Course was in decent condition. Greens weren’t dried from rain previous day.
No beverage cart on the course
Overall not worth the $80 for the round. Probably won’t go back
