Hot Deal was terrific value
We got a foursome at $34 each. Great value. Courae was in good condition except for the bunkers which still had some water from recent rains. Finished the round in 4 hours 15 minutes which is pretty good. Weather held up. All in all a nice round of golf.
Course is not bad but worst staff ever
Went here because there was a hot deal on GolfNow. This place just wants your money and leave. If you don't care for how they treat customers, read the last paragraph.
Unfriendly pro shop dude requests that we drop off our house/car keys in exchange for the golf carts. They keep them in a drawer with slots for each golf cart number to put the keys in. We hand them the keys to our other car and took cart #43, then at end of day forgot to get it back when we left which was our fault. When I called the next morning to have them check the drawer, a different pro shop staff advised he cannot find them and rudely says there is nothing they can do, even though I asked if they could reach out to the guy who worked the day before and offered my phone number in case they find it. Unsatisfied with the rude answer, we drove all the way back to the pro shop after work and found that the key was in the drawer under cart #43 the entire time. I've played many courses over the years and this was the worst staff I've ever had to deal with.
Anywho, we played the Blue and White courses and they were fairly flat with slow greens that were possibly due to the light rains during the day. Lots of wild grass beside the roughs which I'm not sure whether is part of the design or just wasn't trimmed. Started on Sunday noon and nobody was there which allowed us to play at our pace. Food cart only came for the first few holes and when we were actually thirsty for beer it never appeared.
"We're Closed"
I checked Banty's Roost website for closing times. It said they closed at 9 pm and also that the driving range was open from dawn until dusk. I drove there, arriving at 7:45 pm and was told simply "We're closed". Cars in the parking lot, people in the clubhouse. I do not recommend this place to anyone.
Golf Course is poorly run
This remains one of the most poorly run golf course in Ontario. The course is always crowded and what should take 4.5 hrs normally takes 5 hours a round. The course will not honor any of its deals and would rather play at Mayfield instead.
You get what you pay for
Three 9s are available but they all play the same. Relatively flat and straight forward. Bunkers were like hitting out of mostly dried cement - very firm; may as well have bene clay. Tee boxes are okay though I wish they flattened them out. For the price it's good for beginners but likely not for the experienced player looking to be challenged. I played early morning (8am) mid-week and got in a round in just over 4 hours - though I thought that was still a little slow for this course.
Do not play this Golf Course
8 minutes between tee times. Ridiculous.
Poorly maintained greens. No rakes for traps. Very little sand in traps.
Get this golf course removed from GolfNow. It makes you guys look bad.
Took 3:20 to play 9 holes and they wouldn't give the 2 University students I played with any sort of credit for needing to leave after 9.
Anyone wishing to play this course needs to seriously consider going to the Mall with their spouse instead. Way better use of your time.
Spend the same amount and play at lowville, Indian wells or glen eagle.
Just off the fairway, the grass is really high and thick. This is not how first cut of rough is maintained. Weeds all over including tee box. Grounds keeper are working while you are hitting. They have ear plugs on, so you can't even tell 4. This is totally against any labour law.
Talked to the staff and they think 68 bucks for this course is a fair deal.
Will never play here again.
Awsome course, but!
I really enjoy playing at banty roost. Everything was good, but the guys in green house seemed like they didn't trust our group of 3. 2 men and a lady. At least during my time i think they over booked that the pace slowed down with the group in front of us, and they didn't have anyone in front of them. We had to leave without completing the last 2 holes. They got to do they're timing more better. We started late, 10:50am was the first tee, when we booked for 10:30am. and I had to leave by 2:30pm but left at 3pm because I wanted to finish but couldn't finish, and I was late to my appointment. Great course, but they need to work on timing. And they need to work o customer skills.
Worst pro shop experience ever. We arrived 40 minutes before our time and had to line up. Only 1 guy was taking money. The 2 others there were standing there doing nothing. I wanted to pay and was told I was too early to pay. went back 20 minutes later and still could not pay. We finally got to pay when it was out tee time. After we drove to first tee and had to wait. I tee time here is not the time you tee off. This is a VERY unorganized golf club.
We will not be back. Only good thing was I hit a 310 yd drive on the last hole.
starter upgrades required
they need a starter at each nine who knows what to do
Nice course, too crowded for 1st day of the season ;)
I know I am complaining, but after having paid 65 bucks for 18 holes, range fees on a wet course, the pace was pretty slow. So my partners and I gave up after 15 holes.....Nice course, but perhaps due to the early season enthusiasm, they over booked?
Either way, it was a fun day out, hope you guys had a good tome too Enzo and Matt :)
Ok course
The course was ok. But busy. The staff seemed overwhelmed. Course was good for the beginning of the year. Staff was rude to my party. And no marshall to keep the game going.
Not recommend to GolfNow players
Staff friendliness-none
Course condition-bad
Not worth for $ paid
Poor everythIng
Heard that this course was decent, so my friend and I went. We were a little late cause we couldn't find the place, and the guy made sure we understood that we were late make a scene.
The place was jam packed with ppl.
We had a 3 some in front of us who liked to do 10 practice swings before hitting a ball, and if it went in the bush they we're gone looking for it, slowing the pace of the game right down. We left after the 8th hole cause we have been there 3.5 hours. If the place is as busy as it was they should have marshalls out making sure the game is going quick. Also I know it's the beginning of the year. But being a "country club" they need to clean up there property. Huge pile of tree trimmings on the course, beer cans every where. Just not a clean course. Yes it's early but if your open, have people cleaning up the course so it's presentable.
Won't go back again. Unfortunately lost out on 10 holes but gained the info that this place needs to be cleaned up.
What you'd expect
First time at bantys and had a blast with the nice spring weather. Booked through golfnow and got it for about 35 after fees, etc. Walking rate. Value for the money was there when comparison shopping, overall a solid spring course to play.
Great Course
I've played this course many time in the last few years. The course conditions have always been top quality, considering the obstacle's the maintenance department have to endure.
The proshop staff on the other hand, a smile wouldn't kill them, and some manners would do them all some good. The food sold at the patio is somewhat lacking. Not much on the menu except hamburgers, hot dogs or sausage. I have yet to see a menu with other options.
I agree with your assessment. This is one of the worst course in Ontario.
