If you are not on the fairway there is absolutely no way to find your ball. The rough was cut and grass clippings everywhere which made it impossible to see your ball.

Rough
There were so many grass clippings in the rough we lost a lot of balls that should have otherwise been found. The Blue Course rough was basically unplayable.

Course condition could be better.
Course is a mix of easy open fairways and some hidden traps. Biggest issue was that if the ball went off the fairway into the rough, it was pretty well impossible to find it under the grass clippings which the grounds maintenance crew had left uncollected. This was a great source of frustration for everyone in our foursome. Overall, just an average course. Last played here a few years back; unlikely to play again for the foreseeable future.

not as good as it used to be
I've played mayfield for almost 30 years and I've never seen it in that poor condition. I know it sold last year. Maybe the new ownership has something to do with it

Good to be back
Played the red and white (original 18) and it brought back the memories. This has been on of my favourite local courses. Good value and course was in good condition.

Pace of play was slow only because of the foursome in front of us
