Sawmill Creek Golf Resort & Spa
About
Sawmill Creek Golf Resort & Spa is southwestern Ontario's premier golfing destination. Located just east of Sarnia and less than an hour from London, the golf course is a conveniently situated getaway that feels much further thanks to an idyllic location along the shores of Lake Huron. The course is a par-71, links-style design that is challenging enough for avid golfers but still playable for beginners. The gently rolling landscape was enhanced even further with the addition of more than a million tons of earth, which was carefully molded to look as though it had always been there. The meticulously crafted mounding adjoins the fairways, providing a continuous flow throughout the golf course. In addition to the mounding, golfers will also face large bunkers, tall fescue, bluegrass rough, and desert-like waste areas. It may appear daunting, but Sawmill Creek is not as tough as it looks.

Great course
All good. Nice course with lots of challenges and easy to follow. The only area of improvement is that if your going for first time the Pro shop is hard to find as it is located at the back of another building, I saw no signing indicating where it was and I could not find anybody to ask. Also before arriving the GPS sent me to a side road. So, again if your are going there for first time be there with at least 30 in advance.
Tale of two Sawmills
The course is challenging and fun to play and it is also conditioned quite well. While a few holes are somewhat tricked out playing at 90 degree doglegs etc. it’s only going to be slightly annoying the first time you play. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the other amenities at the “resort” which have definitely seen better days. That’s fine with me however as I’m only there to golf and the course is still being well taken care of so far...
A beautiful course for anyone
A very beautiful par 71 course. Great layout, soft and quick greens, tee blocks were nice and flat, fairways in great shape. The only knock I could think of about this place, is I wish the rough was a little thicker. It was a fairly easy rough to play out of. If I lived closer, I'd definitely play this course frequently.
Excellent course
We camp every summer at the Pinery near Grand Bend and play all the local courses.
This was the first time at Sawmill Creek and I would highly recommend this course to everyone.
Nice challenging layout and distances that are reachable with several holes requiring well placed shots.
Will definitely be returning many times in the future.
Cost was a bargain! 5 star recommendation!
Great course
Course was in very good condition. They were doing some work on some bunkers trying to Improve the course. Greens were very receptive and putted very true and were quite quick. Fairways and rough were in very nice shape. We had some lunch when the round was complete and the food was great. Overall it was a great day.
Fall golf
Links style course so relatively leaf free (which is great for this time of year), food & beverage facilities all closed so the course missed an opportunity to sell refreshments. Sand traps in very poor condition, fairways in good shape, greens so-so (recently aerated & sanded)
Good Day for Golf
Nice course. Big hitter can make the green on No. 3 Par 4. Don't be short though or you'll be in the water that runs the full length of this dogleg rt. No. 6 par 5 is similar layout as No. 3. You can be rewarded with an eagle chance if you challenge yourself to carry the water that also runs the length of this par 5 dogleg. That being said, the course is very manageable for all level of golfer.
Great course!
This is an impressive facility and course. Challenging, interesting holes but we still scored well. We will be back. The only suggestion I would make is to provide signs to help people locate the washrooms!
Favourite course in SW Ontario
This course is always in great condition and staff is helpful and friendly. The course doesn't seem to overbook its tee times so the pace has been great every time we've played Sawmill Creek. Our favorite course in SW ON!
you need to stay in the fairway to make this course easy
thecourse has lots of bunkers, some water and stream crossings the course was dry and hard so the ball did a lot of bouncing but the course is enjoyable to play
Great course, challenging but fair
I'd come back here again. The holes were really interesting with a variety of tees to match the ability of every player.
Bunkers
All good...except the bunkers are terrible (nonplayable)
shape
The course was in great shape , very enjoyable place to play
Sawmill Creek Potential
Has the potential to be a nice facility but needs maintenance. Greens hard and bouncy and sand traps lack sand. Clubhouse in need of repair and maintenance. Staff are really nice
Best value in Ontario
We always love playing this course as it is one of the best values in all of Ontario . Greens are tricky and fast and when the wind blows this course is a real challenge.
Challenging windy day
We had not played the course for 3 years. It had always been in good shape. The course was fairly dry considering the recent rainfall amounts. The greens were in good shape and rolled very nicely. The fairways were in great shape as well. The rough was very challenging in many spots. The pace of play was good considering the number of golfers on the property. The beverage cart came by regularly. The pro shop staff were very welcoming and seemed to be enjoying their jobs. I would recommend this course to players of all skill levels. Even though the back tee yardage is not extreme, there were many tough tee shots and the windy conditions made the course even more challenging.
Sawmill Creek A Must Play
Extremely friendly staff, a challenging course and fast true greens. Sawmill Creek requires you to use most clubs in the bag. This course is a hidden gem.
Public course
BEST PUBLIC TRACK in the Sarnia area. The only fault would be the sand traps. I wouldn't use a $130 wedge with all the stones and mud.
GREAT WEEKEND GETAWAY COUPLES COURSE
This course is short from the back tees but demanding. You have to leave the driver in the bag for most of the short par 4's and use targets on some of the others. There's a good variety of shots which you could use most clubs in the bag. Course was a little dried out and greens were harder but faster then most.
I would go back again as the price was a deal.
