Sawmill Creek Golf Resort & Spa
About
Sawmill Creek Golf Resort & Spa is southwestern Ontario's premier golfing destination. Located just east of Sarnia and less than an hour from London, the golf course is a conveniently situated getaway that feels much further thanks to an idyllic location along the shores of Lake Huron. The course is a par-71, links-style design that is challenging enough for avid golfers but still playable for beginners. The gently rolling landscape was enhanced even further with the addition of more than a million tons of earth, which was carefully molded to look as though it had always been there. The meticulously crafted mounding adjoins the fairways, providing a continuous flow throughout the golf course. In addition to the mounding, golfers will also face large bunkers, tall fescue, bluegrass rough, and desert-like waste areas. It may appear daunting, but Sawmill Creek is not as tough as it looks.

Great course
Course was in very good condition. They were doing some work on some bunkers trying to Improve the course. Greens were very receptive and putted very true and were quite quick. Fairways and rough were in very nice shape. We had some lunch when the round was complete and the food was great. Overall it was a great day.
Fall golf
Links style course so relatively leaf free (which is great for this time of year), food & beverage facilities all closed so the course missed an opportunity to sell refreshments. Sand traps in very poor condition, fairways in good shape, greens so-so (recently aerated & sanded)
Good Day for Golf
Nice course. Big hitter can make the green on No. 3 Par 4. Don't be short though or you'll be in the water that runs the full length of this dogleg rt. No. 6 par 5 is similar layout as No. 3. You can be rewarded with an eagle chance if you challenge yourself to carry the water that also runs the length of this par 5 dogleg. That being said, the course is very manageable for all level of golfer.
Great course!
This is an impressive facility and course. Challenging, interesting holes but we still scored well. We will be back. The only suggestion I would make is to provide signs to help people locate the washrooms!
Poor Communication
Started on BAck Nine and were never informed that grounds crews were aerating front nine greens and seven of the holes were closed.
Favourite course in SW Ontario
This course is always in great condition and staff is helpful and friendly. The course doesn't seem to overbook its tee times so the pace has been great every time we've played Sawmill Creek. Our favorite course in SW ON!
you need to stay in the fairway to make this course easy
thecourse has lots of bunkers, some water and stream crossings the course was dry and hard so the ball did a lot of bouncing but the course is enjoyable to play
Great course, challenging but fair
I'd come back here again. The holes were really interesting with a variety of tees to match the ability of every player.
Bunkers
All good...except the bunkers are terrible (nonplayable)
shape
The course was in great shape , very enjoyable place to play
Sawmill Creek Potential
Has the potential to be a nice facility but needs maintenance. Greens hard and bouncy and sand traps lack sand. Clubhouse in need of repair and maintenance. Staff are really nice
Best value in Ontario
We always love playing this course as it is one of the best values in all of Ontario . Greens are tricky and fast and when the wind blows this course is a real challenge.
Challenging windy day
We had not played the course for 3 years. It had always been in good shape. The course was fairly dry considering the recent rainfall amounts. The greens were in good shape and rolled very nicely. The fairways were in great shape as well. The rough was very challenging in many spots. The pace of play was good considering the number of golfers on the property. The beverage cart came by regularly. The pro shop staff were very welcoming and seemed to be enjoying their jobs. I would recommend this course to players of all skill levels. Even though the back tee yardage is not extreme, there were many tough tee shots and the windy conditions made the course even more challenging.
Sawmill Creek A Must Play
Extremely friendly staff, a challenging course and fast true greens. Sawmill Creek requires you to use most clubs in the bag. This course is a hidden gem.
Public course
BEST PUBLIC TRACK in the Sarnia area. The only fault would be the sand traps. I wouldn't use a $130 wedge with all the stones and mud.
GREAT WEEKEND GETAWAY COUPLES COURSE
This course is short from the back tees but demanding. You have to leave the driver in the bag for most of the short par 4's and use targets on some of the others. There's a good variety of shots which you could use most clubs in the bag. Course was a little dried out and greens were harder but faster then most.
I would go back again as the price was a deal.
Customer service is a joke
I once was a member at this course growing up , the pro and staff treated us very badly and not perfessonal to say the least . I have tried to go back as a 25 year old because I do however like the course. But I've come across the same kind of people. I'm not sure what kind of water the staff is drinking but I will not be golfing in 2015 at sawmill. It's a joke, also now you have to put down a credit card to book a tee time witch stops the youth from riding bikes the the course and paying the old fashion way like we all have done. Sawmill you need work and the seasons just started.....
Pace of play
the golf course is in good shape and we enjoyed the front nine until we got to the ninth hole where there was four groups on the tee...we hoped that some of the groups ahead of us would stop after nine but no such luck.
We made our tee times at 1 pm to try to play at a time we hoped the course would not be busy but obviously that was everyone elses idea as well....we knew we wouldn't finish our 18 if we continued on so we opted to play the front nine again and did it in 1 1/2 hrs...No where did we see a ranger, I guess they all went south to Florida...
Condition
The course was in great shape for October and no leaves.
Unfortunately you may have the wrong golf course as we do not take credit cards for individual bookings. We take them for group bookings only which would be common practice at any golf course.
Our proshop and golf staff are always friendly and courteous to our members & guests at the golf course. I would challenge you to find anyone who says otherwise. Please refer to the other reviews on this site or any other site.
If you have further comment I encourage you to contact me at your convenience. Unfortunately while your comments are free to post they could not be further from the truth and have the apparent taste of someone out to discredit our hard working staff as evident by your username.
