Nice course
Nice course and good value. Tee boxes were in rough shape. Fairways were nice and green a few patchy/damaged areas that don't look like they are fixing. Greens were good mostly green some damaged spots on most of the greens. The greens played fast. Course lay out is great and very scenic and mature course. Pretty challenging with some tight Fairways. Staff were very friendly and they have a nice clubhouse with and upper level all glass looking over the 18th green. Dont think I'd drive there again to play but would recommend giving it a try.
Etiquette
I loved the course. It was in great shape. The greens were superb and true. The value was exceptional. My only negative takeaway was the threesome in front of me (I played as a single) did not allow me to pass through. They had no one in front of them but had me on their tails all day. Yes, I should have asked them but after 9 holes I just gave up on the idea and kept my distance. The marshal who drove around should have recognized what was happening and helped out. That was my only beef.
True Value
Oaks of Cobden is the most expensive course in the area, Renfrew courses and Whitetail are cheaper for Memberships and green fees. No practice facility and no pro and no open kitchen, no amenities. Course is usually not in good shape until August, as a rule the greens are super slow and it is not a championship course. This is a $ 850 dollar membership course and 35 dollar green fee at the best of times. The course is worth playing if rates are low and coupons are involved, not worth 46 dollars green fee. Talked to members and they are not happy with the membership rates, its all about the bang for your buck. The speed of the greens are kept slow, after August and September the greens are in the best shape they can be for Cobden. Surrounding courses are Championship courses with practice facilities and a pro and are ready from May to October and with good greens. Not sure if the owner cares about being competitive with their pricing. It shows on their website, membership is $1100 + HST $1243.00 for 2016 which is more than all the surrounding courses. Cobden has to step up to the plate one way or another for their members and green fee'ers if they want to stay successful or exist.
Surprisingly excellent conditions for this time of year.
We were expecting a lot of fallen leaves on the ground but all playing areas had been cleaned. The greens were in excellent conditions and the fairways were very green and well groomed. Totally enjoyed playing here and well worth the drive from Ottawa. Will definitely go back in early spring. The staff was quite hospitable.
End of Season Fun Round
The staff were outstanding and we really enjoyed the course. Rain had made it wet and the day was cold and windy but the course was still fun.
Would love to see it with sunshine!
Best public course in the Valley
I enjoy playing the Oaks and I have played all courses in the Valley and I feel that the Oaks is the bet
Beautiful Day
The course is in excellent condition, the weather was great - although quite cool. Pace of play was good and the fall colours are beginning thus making the experience more beautiful. Definitely will play the Oaks of Cobden again. My husband and had a wonderful day.
ottawa valley gem
I've played this course many times over the years and it's always in prime condition, well manicured, greens well maintained, a nice variety of holes, staff always friendly and accommodating. One of my favourite course in the Ottawa Valley. Worth the drive, I highly recommend it.
female service manager not too friendly
club house air conditioning not working upstairs, no food service except for hot dogs that had been rolling around on steamer for hours. they gave us an old cart instead of new electric one, they were parked far away for some reason. lack of staff, all students have gone back to school, the clubhouse manager was not happy about giving us the hot deal rate even though the parking lot was empty. we told her you might get potential members from the hot deal customers and stated that rarely happens. too bad beautiful course, but poor supervision is a major drawback with this course. we wanted to have dinner after the round but were unable to do so. they are like most course today that are catering too tournaments. these courses better start paying more attention to the everyday golfers if they want to survive. I can drive to other courses only kms away.
course in great shape...
we had a great day at cobden. The fairways and the greens were in superb shape. Pace of play was a little slow on the back nine (due to groups in front of us having trouble with more difficult holes) but we still finished in just under 4 hrs..
The Oaks has it all.
This course has a great layout and design that allows golfers of all types to enjoy the game of Golf without worrying too much about being in too much trouble. The fairways are in great shape with very few divots and the rough is long enough to challenge every golfer. Greens in excellent shape. The course guide book is a nice addition to aid golfers with planning each shot. It gives tips for the greens which also helps.
Hidden Gem
Well maintained challenging course, nice staff. Not busy on a Thur, played in 3 hrs on a beautiful day.
Le parcours est très beau et très bien rélisés
Le Club de Golf Oak of Conden est un très beau parcours , bien entre-tenue.
Well maintained and picturesque.
Very impressed with scenic beauty and overall conditions of this course. Management seems to take great pride to ensure the Oaks is in top condition. Greens especially were in super shape this year. The efforts of the grounds crew has certainly paid off.
A couple of very tight holes in the back 9, but overall it's a fair but challenging course. Staff is friendly, professional and flexible. I like this course very much. Recommend.
Nice variety of holes andbeautiful landscape.
The course was in exceptional shape for this time of year. The greens were in particularly fine shape. Overall I would describe the course as being in lush shape Great value for the money.
Nice Course in the Valley
This is a nice course. It is well maintained and always looks good. The staff are friendly and the greens always seem to be in good shape. You can walk this course as there aren't many hills to climb and the holes are close.
beautiful golf course
fairways are excellent. impeccable greens but a bit slow.
Beautiful course in great shape! Will definately play it again and recommend it to friends.
This course is beautiful and in great shape. I will definitely be playing it again and I highly recommend it.
Great Course
Considering how hot it's been the course was in fantastic shape. Staff was very friendly and refreshment cart was by frequently, enjoyed this because it was 32 c + and sunny.
Overall good course witha couple of quirks.
There are two holes, 11 and 15 that are completely different from the others. This might be considered a negative to some players. Most holes I would consider moderately difficult but these two are narrow with blind Tee shots and anything right or left of fairway is probably lost. The greens are usually in good condition but not lightening fast.
Yes if you look at all the other reviews, their reviews are September, October, and that is when they have all the kinks out, from spring to August some years its not great, they always as a rule have a lot of winter kill and because the greens were not built properly they have to leave them longer, so they do not burn out.
