Shady Valley Golf Club

About
Shady Valley opened on Labor Day in 1959, and has matured into one of the best-kept secrets in DFW golf. Loaded with every kind of tree native to this terrain, and highlighted by pesky Rush Creek and other water hazards that come into play on 14 holes, this is a par 70 track that requires you to hit it straight.
Early in the round, the 526-yard No. 2 jumps out with a tee shot over water and out-of-bounds lining the fairway. Also on the front, Nos. 4 and 8 involve Rush Creek and are considered among the most difficult on the course.
Rest up at the turn and get ready for the challenging opening holes on the back nine. No. 10 goes 437 yards and doglegs to the right with water on each side. No. 11 plays the same distance and is squeezed by a narrow chute of trees. And there’s no forgiveness on No. 12, which requires the navigation of another dogleg right around water.
Getting there : From I-30 west, turn onto the East Chase Pkwy., turn left, and when you come to Pioneer Pkwy., make another left. Drive over to Park Springs Rd. and turn left again. The clubhouse is 3 blocks down the street on the left side of the road.

Great Course with excellent greens
A little windy and chilly, just under 60 degrees but the day was clear and the course was relatively clear.
Great greens, easy to reach, and the fairways played well, with limited divots -- course is well maintained.
Enjoyed my day and liked the uphill hole followed by reverse direction downhill, believe it is early in the back nine.
Good uphill/downhill run
good course
Great staff. Course was in very good condition. Very tight layout. Enjoy having more room to play.
Decent course
The course was okay, but the tee times were stacked close together. 2 minutes between us and the group ahead of us. Then there were mowers and guys edging while we were playing blowing grass everywhere. I don’t think the course is worth the money for the conditions. It is a challenging course though. It is very tight so you better hit straight.
Shady Valley on a cold day
This course is a fun course to play assuming you hit the ball fairly straight. This time of year of the fairways were dormant, but the greens ran nicely and overall the experience was enjoyable.
Nice Course, Good Layout
Note to self: when the course is called Shady anything, that means lots of trees! Wife and I played at Shady Valley while visiting family in the area. Rate paid is for ClubCorp members. Old course with interesting layout. Not many straight holes - lots of doglegs. Lots of trees. Fairways and greens in outstanding shape (except at 11 AM they still hadn't replaced the tee markers after mowing). Traps were a mixed bag, Some dirt. Some clay. Some sand. Members were great about letting a twosome play through. Golf shop staff seemed like we were bothering them. Recommend the course if in the area.
Definitely worth playing
Make sure you stay in the fairway and on the greens. Some of the most penalizing rough in the metroplex. Greens were great but had just a touch of sand still on them. Probably close to impossible once it is all gone.
Great course
Cool course to be able to play that is private. Well maintained. Nice club house.
time to sell
every now and then you get to a course and find out it is way past its prime. this is one of those courses, outdated and frayed around the edges. only one elevation change, up one hole, down the next, it is flat and not very exciting other than the creek which winds through this flood plain. it is time to sell this course, build a park and perhaps housing on the back nine.
Bunker fun
Fun course to play tight fairways and lots of bunkers
When Shady Valley is available, you should play it....
Being a private club, the opportunities to play Shady Valley are limited. So when it was available yesterday, I jumped at it. This course is fun and challenging! It's only 6,550 yards from the tips, but it is sneaky long and is a shot-maker's course. The greens were absolutely perfect yesterday, the tees were good, traps well maintained. Fairways could use a little work, but otherwise this is a great course to go play.
Excellent club.
I recently got married in the downtown Fort Worth area. The day of the wedding Shady Valley and club general manager Dee Thomas hosted my groomsmen, family and extended family friends, a total of 20 guys. Mr. Thomas and staff accommodated the group and all had a great time. Great course, great club!
Shot makers course
Great course conditions!!! Would recommend to anyone. Dont let the yardage fool you. This is a fun golf course...
