Meadowbrook Municipal Golf Course

About
Eight years before he built Colonial Country Club, John Bredemus came to Fort Worth to build Meadowbrook Municipal Golf Course. The city bought the facility years later and brought Ralph Plummer in for renovations in 1962, when the creation of dams formed five new lakes and improved the irrigation system. No. 5 should probably be a par 5 for most hackers -- it plays 475 yards with water on the left of the dogleg, trees are on the right, and the approach must carry a creek. Don't worry about a bogey on this one. The 16th is another long par 4 that features an approach over water to the green. The two best birdie opportunities are nos. 7 and 14, both short par 4s that should leave you with only a short iron into the green.

Course Inwood shape, challenging layout with lots of elevation change. Could do more to move the slow groups along.
DO NOT PLAY!!
Insanely slow pace, 2 1/2 and didn’t even get to finish 9, we told the marshal named “Richard” and he said the person slowing down the entire course was a “cop” so it’s okay. He then told us if we have any issues to contact a guy at a completely different course and to complain to him? Awful experience.
Beginner Experience
First time playing with some buddies and played a scramble. We took extremely long but it was a lot of fun. There was some rules we were not aware of like each play has to have a bag but besides that it was a lot of fun.
Keeps improving
Course is nice right now. The greens are still fairly slow but they are rolling about as smooth and nice as I have honestly ever seen them. The pro shop guy seemed confident they would get better this year, which would be a shock and a first for this course but a pleasant one because I do love the layout.
Cheap round, rough condition
Staff was friendly. Weekday round so pace was good. Lot of singles and walkers minding there own rounds. No large groups stacked but could see on a busy day this becoming an issue. Course needs some TLC. Especially the greens. Greens are patchy, also cut quite long. Fairways were decent. Rain is shedding well, only a couple spots. Water hazards with a lot of litter. Tees were in okay condition. Placement course, water in play making it a course management approach necessary.
Great Value
Was skeptical when I saw the walking rate but the course is in good shape. They don't have many carts which is why they encourage the walking rate. It is not the easiest of walks, however. Good value...and a very good layout in good shape. I recommend this one!
Bad shape
Fairways are very hard and patchy, despite plenty of rain. Greens are slow and very poor condition. Course is fairly challenging, but made worse by poor conditions.
I enjoy the course layout
I think this course has a great layout. The greens definitely need some work. My round was ruined by the twosome who “lost their glasses somewhere” and drove back the wrong way. They then passed me while I was putting out on the 8th and made me wait behind them on every hole thereafter and I was WALKING!!!
Be courteous of other golfers!
Challenging
The course is isn't great. Being a fairly new golfer it is challenging me.
Great
The course is in great shape. The greens are large and fast. A great challenge.
