Where's the Marshall?
Pace of play was very slow and we quit after nine holes even though we paid for eighteen. The two some we were supposed to play with were very rude and drove right up to the ladies tees so we couldn't hit off the men's tees. Now we have a foursome and 3 twosomes on one hole. Took over 2-1/2 hours to do nine holes and when we got to #10 there were 3 groups waiting to tee off. We packed it in at that point. Strange that there were 2 people operating the beverage cart but never once did we see the Marshall.
OAKWOOD golf course
A lot of the holes are just long and straight. No bunkers. There is nothing very interesting or challenging or fun. It was fine for an 'early in the season' outing and great for the GolfNow price. I would never play it at their regular rates or if there were other inexpensive options.
Another good day at the Oakwood Inn
Conditions were not as good as I remembered playing here 7 years ago. Still a nice day, too many par 3 's in a row near the end of the front 9, Had 4 groups om7th tee.
Tough but nice
The only drawback was having a grass cutter that followed us on about six holes. We were the only one's around so he should have left us alone. We don't need all the noise and distraction. Also as a minor problem the holes were not described anywhere to allow you to know the different hidden hazards and the distances to them. Overall I would play again.
Slow greens
The course was in nice condition and playing well except for the SLOW greens. It was tough to get a true read from the ball, the putting grass was little high and the ball would not break as read or should have. The greens though where soft allowing high approaches. The fairways where in good shape!
Unfortunately the group of 2 behind us where, lets say not refined golfers and would hit theirs balls into our play and almost hit us twice without an apology. The play was quick (finished in 3hr 20min) so no need for how they where playing!!
Super Nice day
A little bit confusing! For some holes, did not enjoyed the hard carpet on some tee box! But the green where vin very good condition!
Great Day
Quiet
Didn't care to tee off on mats on three holes
Awesome staff
Terrific course conditions
Long course for Beginners
Greens were not in good condition. I was with beginner golfers and the Par 5s were too long for them, but the wide fairways were nice.
Oakwood Inn & Resort Golf Club
Very unique golf course in that there are 6 Par 5's, 8 Par 3's and only 4 Par 4's. Short course overall at only 5356 yards from the white tees. At least 4 of the tee blocks had driving range tees, not grass, that was a little weird. The course condition was OK, not bad but not great. Somehow a 6some was ahead of us and they did not let us play through since they said they were delayed by a 3some who were goofing around a bit. A summer resort town will get golfers like that every now and then. Glad we had a GolfNow discount. Wouldn't want to pay full price for this course.
Awesome place
We had an amazing time there, Staff 5 Stars! Nice people, polite and friendly! Price was the best in town!
We played 18 as our own foursome.
Everything was excellent except for the pro shop dude that took our money.. He was kind of rude.
Greens were very well kept.
The greens were well watered and very full. No bare spots and the ball rolled true.
This course has scenic
My first time playing this course and really enjoyed the wide fairways. However I didn't like playing off the mat on the 1st and 10th holes nor did I like having to cross the busy highway in the golf cart several times to get to the tees. It is SO very dangerous and you're risking your life every time. I won't rush back to play.
Not Bad
Biggest downfall to this course is that you tee off on turf for 1 and 10. You also finish both the front and back on very short Par 3s. Otherwise, not a bad course.
Going down hill
Have not made any changes or improvements to course in 20 years. Take advantage of unsuspecting tourists who pay listed price. Lots of knarly clover in fairways! Really? At least two holes that are more like pitch n put. Besides it's proximity to Grand Bend this place has nothing going for it. Lost in the sixties.
average
I did not like the artificial turf tee box for the 1st and 10th holes. It was very slick. The staff was disorganized but polite. The course had closed 1 hole to flooding which i would have liked to know before booking. We were the first group off and got stuck behind a threesome on the 10th hole. I enjoyed the golf buddies t my impression is this a golf course for vacationers and not for die hard golfers. That said play it once and form your own impressions.
Wonderful pace of play
My wife and I played this course on a Statutory Holiday in under 4 hours. It has a good mixture of holes from short par 3s to the par 5 14th at 600 yards. Plenty of water and traps to hopefully avoid. Tee blocks, fairways and greens in good condition.Pro shop and dining room staff were very friendly and accommodating.
interesting first tee
no bunkers on course, very little water, fairways are pretty wide open, not overly challenging but not the easiest. greens are very good
