Northern Dunes Golf Club
About
Northern Dunes Golf Club is a 18-hole championship course that tumbles across the gently rolling landscape of Bruce Peninsula. The front nine lays across natural sand dunes and while the back nine's landscape required a bit more work, it manages to seamlessly blend with the surroundings. Steve Young, the course architect, incorporated the classic elements of a traditional Scottish links layout but he also wanted the course to have a thoroughly modern feel. The result is a challenging design featuring large greens and over 50 bunkers filled with natural sand strategically placed throughout. The prevailing northwest winds provide another tricky element. Northern Dunes G.C. is ideally situated less than 10 miles from Lake Huron and Sauble Beach and is accessible from all directions.

simply put....wonderful day of golf on a very nice coutse
new carts certainly adds some clsss to the course.. thanks for the upgrade
Northern Dunes
Have played many times at this course. Brand new carts this year. Reliable and very fast. Course suffered from last years dry conditions and fairways and tees are patchy. Greens are in very good condition. I have played there 3 times in the last 10 days. Will play again.
carts
finally upgraded their carts. very nice.
course was in great condition although a little wet in some areas which can't be helped.
overall a great round of golf with a wonderful lunch
Outstanding and difficult
I’ve played this course three times this spring and each was better than the previous round. Wet conditions still make the course play very long on several holes although it is quickly drying up. The greens are outstanding although the bunkers can make par nearly an afterthought. The staff and greenskeeper are very friendly. Try the hot dogs !
Rough shape
Just played the front nine in cool weather and some rain. The greens were in very good condition. But the fairways were not. Just patches and clumps of grass on the fairways affecting roll and subsequent shots.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to review Northern Dunes Golf Club. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future.
Good layout - lacking some grass
Back 9 in good condition but front 9 has several holes with fairways lacking grass. Both tee boxes and fairways need some cutting
A tale of 2 nines
We started on the back nine and the course was in very good shape. When we made the turn the conditions of the fairways drastically changed and made finding a decent lie in the fairway difficult. Greens remained nice throughout the course which was a saving grace. No cart person on a Saturday afternoon either.
Northern Dunes golf course
We were told to grab any golf cart, but every single cart had been used before and every single one was dirty, with garbage left over from previous round the day before. Also the dew from the roof dropped down on the seat when you attempted to move the cart. Went back to the clubhouse and asked for a towel to wipe the carts and they came out with a broom and dust pan. All the golf carts had a lot of dust on them all around, even the cart windshield. If they weren’t down you could hardly see out of them.
The course was in very poor shape on the first nine holes. You had to clean and lift on every fairway so you had grass under your ball.
If I had to pay full fare I would have been extremely disappointed and would never go back.
carts
like the course. great pace as not very busy. the golf carts are horrible. This is the second time I have made this comment.
carts are dirty, always. Todays cart had garbage in the cubical, covered with pine needles and wet. Set material on most of carts are torn. Not a good start to a round of golf
Tough to grow grass on sand !!!
Front nine was terrible. No Fairways, had to find a patch of weeds on the fairway to place the ball on. Crazy to think they would not say something. Just insane front nine. Back was fair, was 1,000 times better than front.
Would not be happy if I didn't get a hot deal and pay only $35..
Still needs rain
Played today at 0928
As stated in a review of August 2/18 this course is very very dry. Fairways are hard with little or no living green grass evident. Tee boxes and greens are in very good condition. As stated before the course needs 3 things to make it great.
1 refreshment cart
2 players assistant to speed along slow play.
3 new carts. Current ones are all in need of replacement and sent to a car crusher and sold as scrap, which most are currently.
I have played this course at least 30 times over the past 5 years. It is a 50 minute drive for me from Tobermory area but there is nothing else around for the price.
Today’s round $30.50 taxes in with cart thanks to golf now hot deals.
older guy
Front nine was dry, fairway grass was sparse, the back nine much better shape. Greens were in immaculate shape.
Carts need some work, seats need recovered, carts not washed, not set up for use, no score card, pencil etc, empty cans and bottles left in cart., overall general cart condition was poor
My review
Have played this many times over the last 5 years. Today’s round was slow due to 2 very slow golfers. Conditions today were very poor, as many other reviewers have stated, fairways are bare with very little green grass. Tee boxes and greens were in very good condition. The greens were soft and held the ball well.
I think this course needs 3 things to make it great
1. Refreshment cart out on a regular basis
2. Players Marshall to speed along slow golfers or duffers who look for lost balls for far too long.
3. New golf carts preferably electric. The current carts all need to be sent to a car crusher and reduced to scrap metal.
Parched!
Water needed! Looks the rain has been sparse here. The fairways are almost non existent as brown is the colour. However the tee decks and the greens are nice and green and play well. Hope some rain comes in to turn it green again .
