Northern Dunes Golf Club
About
Northern Dunes Golf Club is a 18-hole championship course that tumbles across the gently rolling landscape of Bruce Peninsula. The front nine lays across natural sand dunes and while the back nine's landscape required a bit more work, it manages to seamlessly blend with the surroundings. Steve Young, the course architect, incorporated the classic elements of a traditional Scottish links layout but he also wanted the course to have a thoroughly modern feel. The result is a challenging design featuring large greens and over 50 bunkers filled with natural sand strategically placed throughout. The prevailing northwest winds provide another tricky element. Northern Dunes G.C. is ideally situated less than 10 miles from Lake Huron and Sauble Beach and is accessible from all directions.

Great course but a little wet
Got an awesome hot deal. I loved the course and it is "somewhat challenging" as described in the course difficulty. Only negative is that the course is very wet right now, but didn't negatively effect our experience. Would play this course any chance I get.
Not a Dune in Sight!
According to Webster's, a "dune" is a hill or ridge of sand piled up by the wind...not very complimentary when thinking about a golf course and nowhere near the descriptor I would use to review this gem of a course.
Northern Dune will surprise even the most seasoned golfer. The front nine uses a mixture of tight fairways to test your accuracy off the tee but you will be rewarded (or recover if needed) by spacious greens that are very well maintained and can run fast...beware! The back nine features wider landing spots for the big boomers out there. However, given the location of the course, keep your big booming drives below the tree tops or suffer the fate of the prevailing winds that will surely carry into fescue which may require a homing device if you want to find that ball!
All in all, a very pleasant track for the experienced, weekly or even beginning golfer.
Course well worth the play
Course is in fairly good shape - front 9 rough is very sparse (hitting of dirt/sand) back 9 rough is all good. Tee boxes, fairways, traps and greens are all in good condition. Well worth the play
what a bargain!
the fairways aren't in the best condition but the greens were excellent. We'll be back for sure.
1st game of '17
Well, it's early in the year and this was our 1st round. Considering how much snow and rain we have had lately the course was actually in good condition. Ponds were full to capacity and of course some low lying areas were pretty wet. The greens were running quite nicely and the decks were also good.
Overall well worth it.....will be back.
Awesome course
This is a fantastic golf course. Challenging enough to be interesting, but consistent enough that you can make good shots. Course is still in great shape, even this late in a challenging year for course maintenance.
Dry Couse But Coming Back
Play here a lot through the weekend summer months.
The course is coming back slowly after a very dry summer. The greens and tee blocks are in great shape as always. Staff are excellent to deal with. The General Manager is Top notch. The carts are getting old and tired. They really need to upgrade these. Very busy course.
Thank you for your review, and for recommending our golf course! We are glad you enjoyed your round. We agree, Clark is a fantastic GM! We hope to see you soon.
Great value for the price
Have played many times here. The course has some challenges, ie ;width of fairway on 18. The golf carts leave a lot to be desired very difficult to start and when they do they almost jump causing your head and neck to snap back, plus some have no clip to hold the score card. However, for $16 plus taxes and fees you can't beat it.
$15.24
great price for a very challenging course
when skunks attack
overnite skunks had been at work feeding on grubs and had done some damage - live traps were in several loctaions - we encountered no stripped critters!
the rest of the course in good shape - writing the next day as it rains ,the course will welcome the watering!
conditions usual for late June, in early May!!
staff all extremely pleasant and helpful!
have played here, somewhat locally, several times and would not hesitate to return!
Great course
This is a fun course with enough challenges for any serious golfer but still enjoyable for a novice. The greens are excellent, very consistent for speed and roll quite true. Small clubhouse with good food and friendly staff.
Great day!
Once again enjoyed a wonderful outing at Northern Dunes! The golfnow.com deal was fabulous. It is a challenging course and fun to play.
The course is very good
Enjoyed playing there. Tight fairways but greens are very soft and smooth.
Look for deals
For the price for a round here you can drive 15 minutes to Legacy Ridge, for the same price and get a much better golf course
Great course.
This is a very nice course but they need more golf carts. We pre-paid for a cart and ended up having to waiting 30 mins for a cart which means every tee time was backed up due to the lack of carts. Staff was extremely apologetic and felt terrible we had to wait. Other then that it was a great day, beautiful course, food is good and staff is very friendly.
Great layout
Great condition, greens fantastic and true, use the yardage book, helps with distancs,. Challenging but not cruel
Handy, reasonable and a good course
A good day, Great rate. Course in good shape. No tree leaves to contend with.
A very interesting course
I played this course yesterday with my husband and enjoyed every part of it. Reminds me of a South Carolina course with the pine trees et al.
Thank you for recommending our golf course! We are glad you enjoyed your round and found the conditions up to par! (Pun intended) We hope you make it out again before the snow flies.
