About
Rockway Golf Course celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2010. This classic course, situated in the heart of Kitchener, has long been a favorite in the Waterloo region. When it opened back in 1935, it was the area's first public course. With its lush fairways lined with mature trees, it is almost impossible to guess that the golf course sits on the former site of a sewage treatment plant. The course has a traditional layout that is gentle enough for beginners but is still an inviting challenge for more advanced players. The front nine offers a gentle start but the course gets progressively more difficult on the back nine. Overall, though, the golf course has some challenging holes but nothing too intimidating. In addition to the course, Rockway also boasts one of the area's largest practice greens as well as a chipping area with a sand bunker.

Ushered off
only got 16 holes at Rockway before getting ushered off. Plenty of light to finish,, yet we got escorted off. We played through the group ahead so, we were not slow. Don't sell tee times if its not even possible to play 18 FFS
Tough to walk
I bought a green fee only walking rate. Not a good idea. Not terrible, but a cart would help.
Tough walking course
Not sure why another guy reviewed this course is okay to walk. Holy cow, it was terrible. Warm day notwithstanding. Get yourself a cart. Tough uphill fairways.
A Great Find
Played Rockway today for the first time. What a treat! Started off with friendly staff at the parking lot, in the pro shop and the starter. That kind of greeting helps put you in the right state of mind on the first tee. Now for the course; a great little track. Not very long, but a great variety of holes and use of the land to test your game. Yes, there's a bit of a walk to 4 tee but it's unique and I think just adds to the character. A walkable course with holes and up and down hills, but no crazy climbs where you're gasping for breath at the top. I prefer classic courses like Rockway and many others from Thompson and that era. You can see the Thompson stamp throughout. Course was in great shape. Course and greens were firm but I love that. Nothing to complain about other than my less than stellar start. Am coming back for sure and that view from 18 tee with the clubhouse in the background is how every great course should end...
nice course, snail's pace
It took just over 5.5 hours to complete the round. We had to wait at every tee box.
Apart from that, a nice course, varied layout and good course conditions - the rough a little too long.
Would have been a perfect day on the links except for the pace. Started at 2:30, finished at 8:10 and, because of the drive did not get home til after 9:00.
Course was in great shape.
Very steady pace only had to wait for the group ahead on last 3 holes. They could use more golf carts though. Had to give up 4 carts they said we could use but then someone else needed it more. Ended up being 10 minutes late for our tee time as a result.
