Rockway Golf Club

About
Rockway Golf Course celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2010. This classic course, situated in the heart of Kitchener, has long been a favorite in the Waterloo region. When it opened back in 1935, it was the area's first public course. With its lush fairways lined with mature trees, it is almost impossible to guess that the golf course sits on the former site of a sewage treatment plant. The course has a traditional layout that is gentle enough for beginners but is still an inviting challenge for more advanced players. The front nine offers a gentle start but the course gets progressively more difficult on the back nine. Overall, though, the golf course has some challenging holes but nothing too intimidating. In addition to the course, Rockway also boasts one of the area's largest practice greens as well as a chipping area with a sand bunker.

This course has great features
the course is in good shape except for holes 4 & 5 due to recent rain pour.
good condition, pace of play a little slow
course is in very good condition , we did a lot of waiting , slow pace of play, but overall a good value and had a good time
Good Day
Despite the course being pretty empty the starter paired me up with another single despite him asking to go off solo. Ended up being a good round, got through in 3 hours once we played through the slow group in front.
Grwat course in great shape!
The course is in great shape! Many of the other courses are dry and hard, but Rockway's fairways and greens are soft and easy play on. The tee boxes were pretty badly marked up but that was only a minor issue. Many of the greens had divots that had not been properly fixed and then resulted in obstacles for putting, however overall the course was one of the best I have played on this year.
slow
6+ hours for a 5,500 yard course! Marshalls are useless. Sent off three 2some in a row. Addressed pace of play to Marshall on hole 7 as we were already over 2 hours into our round and he did not respond and just went to another hole to park his cart and presumably nap.
Marshalls are useless.
Great track
A very under-rated Stanely Thompson gem - will have to hit every type of shot on this course. Greens, especially the originals, are smooth and have very interesting contours. The course was in excellent shape, especially for late October. Perhaps the best value for golf in Ontairo IMO.
Great Value!
This is not one of the longer courses but it has some very interesting holes that will challenge any level of golfer from novice to scratch golfers! The power carts need windshield's and bag covers on the back and they are WAY too slow for some reason.
Great course, kept in great condition. Will always come back.
I play here often, nothing to complain. Staff is always friendly.
Scenic Course
What a beautiful course ... and right in the middle of downtown Kitchener! The greens are very well-maintained, the fairways are well-cut and the roughs aren't ridiculous. The bunkers are well-kept. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly! This was my first time playing this course, but you can bet I'll be back.
Great for new to mid level golfers.
Very few water hazards, so less experienced golfers can learn without losing a lot of balls. Not many par 5s, either.
A good course to play...when in Waterloo. City owned and fairly well groomed, except for some tee areas.
A good challenge for any level. Friendly staff and centrally located...but hard to find if you don't know the area. Lacks driving range but does have excellent practice greens.
