Oliver's Nest Golf and Country Club
About
Situated just west of Lindsey, Oliver's Nest Golf & Country Club is an idyllic escape that sprawls across rolling hills with the Mariposa Brook ambling through. The golf course opened in 1996 and despite being relatively young, Graham Cooke, a well known Canadian architect who designed the course, managed to incorporate the mature elms, oaks, and cedar trees that were already present in the wooded surroundings. Half of the holes on this challenging golf course are doglegs. The greens are fast and undulating and the rolling fairways are varied in size. The winding brook comes into play on several holes and there is also an abundance of strategically placed bunkers throughout. Oliver's Nest Golf & Country Club's signature hole is the par-3 seventh, whose green is protected by a pond in the front and trees in the back.

Oliver's Nest
Pleasantly surprised by how good the course got through the winter. Tees and fairways were excellent. Greens were a little slow but rolled true. They appear to be about 2/3s of the way through renovating the bunkers. Played 36 and the replay rate was very reasonable. It's a bit of hike from the city but we played 36 in 6 hours on a nice Saturday, so well worth the drive.
Fall conditions so
the greens were choppy, otherwise a nice course. Will play again.
Nice surprise
I was not expecting much after reading some old reviews of this course but I was pleasantly surprised. The greens and fairways were in excellent shape and the tees were fine. They have redone bunkers on 6 holes and the rest will be done in the spring. This is a nice layout with some interesting holes. They have a range, putting and chipping areas to warm up. This was a very good value and would highly recommend you give this course a try.
The course is in Beautiful Shape, would definitely play again.
The course was in Pristine shape. The fairways were well manicured. The greens were in excellent shape and very challenging. I live in Ajax and there are many courses between my house and Oliver's Nest But, I am glad I booked the tee time and look forward to returning to Oliver's Nest.
it is in excellent condition
Pace of play was a bit slow but the course is in great condition and the weather was perfect
well maintained with some difficult holes with upper and lower greens.
The greens were in great shape and so were the fairways without hardly any leaves for this time of year, layout stretched out neatly between gulleys and woods. enjoyed it!
needs sand in traps
good fairways and greens, fairway rough needed to be cut
constantly improving
I have played the course many times before. Since it has been taken over by new ownership, I have noticed many improvements. The greens and fairways are greener and more consistent. Some of the tees are in need of work, but greatly improved over last year. The bunkers are starting to look good. This course is fun to play with a great variety of holes.
Well Designed Golf Course
The Course has been poorly maintained the past few years. New owners have started to do regular maintenance and the golf course condition has improved. Fairways and greens are in very good condition, tees need improvement, bunkers need sand and rough needs to be cut.
Nice layout with 4 sets of tees to challenge all golfers abilities.
Wide open yet challenging.
The course is in good condition, greens are little slow, but overall are good.
Bunkers needs work.
Great course pace is good. Green is little slow. Bunker needs work.
There is a good variety of dificult and easy holes.
There are a few holes that a short hitter can reach in regulation from the white tees so it gives that person a chance to get some pars. The short hitter can use the red tees for two holes that demand a long carry with the first shot. All greens and fairways are in excellent condition.
Good greens.
Once the bunkers are rebuilt,it will be a top value.
Decent Course/ Poor Service
Course is starting to come into a bit better shape, as it seems as though Golfnorth is putting some money into it. (Bunkers were still terrible/ pretty much unplayable)
However, our overall experience at the course was poor. I am not sure why they posted tee times on Golfnow for the day we were playing, as there was some Manic Monday special happening, and the course was JACKED. We waited on every tee for the two groups ahead of us and finished the first eight holes in about 2.5 hours.
This didn't come as a huge shock as when we pulled into the parking lot we knew we in trouble. On check-in we asked the guy in the proshop if we could just get a twilight rain check, as we knew that this was going to be a nightmare, but he said no....we had to play or walkaway from our money. Not great service in my mind. They weren't even apologetic; more glib and smug at the idea that they pulled one over on us. I suppose golfnorth may not have removed some of the people that forced this course into near bankruptcy a couple of years ago.
Greens and fairways are in great shape, tees and bunks are in terrible shape.
See above. The same would be said here. The greens and fairways are in great shape. The bunkers and tees need work.
Worth the drive to Lindsay
Great course. Played it 15 years ago, and still challenging today. This course is risk / reward. Take the risk and if it pays off you get the reward. Tee boxes great for all levels of golfers. My wife who only has played for 3 years, hit from the whites 5600 yards and scored 5 par's. This is excellent for her. Even beat me by 2 strokes overall. The back tee boxes are challenging, and you need a 200plus drive on most holes to clear. The greens are true but lots of contours in them to give some good challenge. Worth the Drive to Lindsay
Challenging course
I have played this course many times and with the new management it has kept it's good playing condition. The staff are trying hard except for one strange thing. I was on the range warming up and a staff member started to retrieve balls with a ball retreiver in front of where I was hitting. I actually had to stop warming up and wait for this guy to finish. He seemed oblivious to me even though I was hitting balls 30 ft from him. Anyway, still love the course and will play again.
Fun course depending on the tees you use.
Course is in pretty good shape. Greens were consistent and challenging. The Golfnow tee time was great because we missed most of the crowd or so we thought until we came to the 10th tee and all of a sudden there was a slow moving foursome in front of us. They didn't let us, a twosome, play through until th 16th hole even though we were on their tail the whole time. Obviously they don't watch the Golf Channel and its new emphasis on speeding up play. Had a great time despite this.
