Royal Niagara Golf Club - Old Canal Course
About
The Old Canal Course is one of three nine-hole courses at the Royal Niagara Golf & Country Club. Situated between the scenic Niagara Escarpment and the Bruce Trail, the Old Canal Course is named after the historic 120-year-old Welland Canal that borders it. The challenging layout was designed to championship standards, employing several tricky elements including carefully sculpted fairways, rolling greens, and king-size bunkers. True to its name, the golf course features plenty of water throughout. There are several dramatically placed tees perched on the edges of the canal, providing stunning scenery that is unmatched in the Niagara region. All three courses at Royal Niagara Golf & Country Club were built to the same high standards, but each one offers a unique set of challenges.

Nice course
Nice course, 3 - 9 hole courses actually. In good shape, pace of play was great. Really enjoyed the course and will be back.
Nice few days
I have played here a few times before and was looking forward to getting another round in. Was able to play 18 holes, two days in a row, and really enjoyed it. I feel the course is one of the best in Niagara, with a good variety of interesting holes, including some elevation changes that you don't get on a lot of our flat Niagara courses. Some small issues with one or two of the greens, but the course was well manicured in general. I am already looking forward to going back.
Course was wet
Cart path only due to heavy rain day prior. That made for a slow round but understandable. Otherwise enjoyed the round, course is somewhat challenging, have played here a few times, always enjoyable.
Let down
For the money we paid kind of disappointed in the conditions. First nine tee boxes weren’t great a lot of crab grass. Greens had some bare patches. Disappointed
Somewhat Disappointed
I liked the course and clubhouse, the staff were great and helpful. I was a disappointed in the condition of the tee boxes, some which looked like hogs had rooted on them, and many of the greens were inundated with ball marks even though we were the first tee off time. The fairways were immaculate and well tended. I would play here again but with some trepidation.
Excellent course, friendly staff
Course is well maintained, couple greens had a couple rough spots but nothing out of line. Staff were all really friendly, pace of play was excellent for a Sunday.
Conditions
Cart path only no problem as course is in better shape than the last 2years I’ve played it !
