Get a bang for your buck.
The course is usually well maintained and in decent shape. The price is right for what you get here. It's ridiculous what the courses are charging. Looks like Golf is going back to be a rich man's sport around this area. It's the deals you get using golf now that help out to some extent.
really improving
Port Dover is trying to improve the golf course and it shows. tee decks were a big improvement but the entire course was really shaping up Bravo , definitely will come back
Slow play.
Pace was slow for the whole round. It took 4 1/2hrs to play. We waited on every tee as we watched the group in front of us tee off. Marshall questioned our driving ability as the twosome behind us complained our choice of tees being played. We weren't the cause of the slow play.
Marshall's should identify the problem group so they can inform unhappy people of the situation.
Good first round of the year
Port Dover was a nice start to the season yeah it was a little wet but expected this time of year. Greens were good fairways good super friendly staff made for a good day
Great for Fall Golf
Course is in really good shape for so close to the end of the season. Greats were great. Not too many leaves causing issues.
Started great ended extremely dissatisfied
Arrived with my son for a 10:06 tee time, about 30 minutes early. Check-in was smooth through GolfNow (shout-out for how easy that was), and we were able to get a cart right away. The course itself looked great and played well — the greens and bunkers in particular were in excellent condition. Compliments to the superintendent and grounds crew.
The starter was friendly and got us out right away behind a twosome walking. Unfortunately, one of the players was very slow, and while I didn’t mind, the Marshall insisted on pushing the group. This made things uncomfortable — he kept hovering and gesturing, even though we were simply paired up with them.
By the turn, the walkers left and play sped up. However, when we reached #10, the starter came rushing over asking “who are you?” as if we didn’t belong. I had to provide my name and tee time again, which was frustrating since I had booked and checked in properly. He eventually admitted he had forgotten to record our cart number.
On the positive side, the cart service was excellent — funny, engaging, and one of the best I’ve encountered.
After the round, we decided to grab food. This is where the day fell apart. My meal was prepared incorrectly despite giving specific instructions. When I asked for a refund instead of a re-fire (since we were pressed for time), they couldn’t process it back to my card. The manager apologized but said there was “nothing they could do.” In the end, I left paying for food I didn’t order and couldn’t eat.
Bottom Line
The course conditions were great, check-in was smooth, and staff on the beverage cart were fantastic. But the experience with the Marshall, the starter mix-up, and especially the restaurant’s refusal to refund a wrong order left a very sour taste. Buyer beware — the golf is good, but the overall service needs serious improvement.
