Needs Marshall presence
Driveable and blind 4s and no Marshall oversight or bells let groups know when it is safe to hit make this course a dangerous and sloowwww outing
Bloomington
Decent course, has come a long way over the years, but the price doesn't balance with the course... 50 dollars to rent a cart! I don't think so... will only play this course again if we are walking, course itself was nice and in good shape. Also needs smaller buckets of balls, 15 dollars for their smallest bucket seems a little extreme, esp. when you just want to hit a dozen or so balls to warm up before chipping and putting... no need to hit 50 balls before a round....
flat and boring
Bloomingdowns is not a course that will challenge you. It's flat and boring. Sand traps are fair to poor. Amenities are nil.
The value you may get is that it's an easy walk; you can wack away. I would not recommend this course if you want to build a handicap.
Tough conditions
Good course for an early season round as the fairways are on the wide side. New golf carts this season. Today conditions were so cold that got a rain check for the back nine.
Great course, some concern with staff...
I generally try and play Bloomington at least once a year. A well maintained driving range and a course that seems to always be working to improve the golf experience. Whether it be rebuilding tee boxes, new golf carts or clear-cutting certain areas to add an element to the game.
My concern is with marshalling and pace of play. Our pace of play for 18 was 4.75hrs (walking). much too long for a generally flat and well laid out course. We waited on every tee box, and were usually getting from hole to hole with 1, if not 2 people in the group in front still teeing off. On hole 10, we had 2 members of staff drive by and overheard them say to each other how backed up it was, and how it was moving so slow. The fact that there are staff who know it isn't moving well, and not doing anything is frustrating, especially because it was very clearly 2 groups holding up 4 tee times. We know this because of course layout and seeing holes backed up from holes just ahead and watching the slower group as we crossed each other on fairways. I love the game of golf, and I like the way Bloomington operates for the most part, but this definitely leaves a sour taste in my mouth and will be considered before another tee time is made.
Booking
Pro shop very difficult to call. Always put on hold and then never answered..
Have to book on line and you have to pay by c.c. for all players in you group which is a hassle because you then have to collect from your buddies who may not have correct cash to pay you. Each player should pay for themselves at the pro shop.
