Hidden Gem
Good course for the price if your expectations aren't PGA level course conditions
Good price for decent course
Pace of play was slow for a Friday and there was lots of “fluff” from trees every where which made finding the ball hard, but overall good layout and course.
Surprise fees at course
Purchased nine holes with cart through golf now. Was told the price that would be due at the course. The staff could not figure out what to charge me and told me I needed to pay extra for carts even though it clearly said it was included in the price.
A great little gem tucked away in the forest!
We booked this course a little off the cuff as we were heading to Turkey Point for the weekend and had time to kill.
It was a very picturesque little course. You park right amongst the trees so your vehicle is always shaded. The clubhouse is simple, but the food was VERY fast and delicious.
We felt a little "underaged" amongst the general population there, but it was a Thursday afternoon so we assumed we were just mixed in with retirees. The course was quite walkable but we did cart.
We quite enjoyed the layout. Greens were a touch slow but very playable. The two singles that came up behind us during our round simply skipped over the hole we were on so the pace was relaxing and enjoyable.
Would definitely revisit this course when we return to the area.
Great course for walking. Enjoy it every time we go
Worth it if it’s a Deal!!
I got this as a package deal from an online seller - it was certainly worth what I paid but the course was in need of repair - the fairways were too firm and many greens were just poor. The layout was also a little confusing
PROS over local competition
+ Cheaper and has a variety of challenge so it's a great course to learn at or play at the start of a year
+ Fantastic course to play with a newer golfer or younger family members.
CONS or compromises
-Poor green conditions, they are consistently the slowest I've ever played. One time out of the 15 or so times I've played there they've been acceptable. If you play here often expect your short game everywhere else to be horrible.
-Very poor tee block conditions. Depends on the hole but most are bumpy and uneven. No maintenance done during the day.
-Dry summer has made most of the rough not much of a factor but prior years this wasn't a problem. Expect the course to reflect the weather.
-Poor pacing. If you're going to play here you have to accept that you may have to wait 5-15 minutes to take shots depending on the day and time. Large backups are common on weekends.
Pros or cons
+- Extreme lack of obstacles that decrease in number every year.
+- Hole 10 and 18 are par 3's that "require" 175ish+ yard carries from white due to some of the only real obstacles on the course.
Overall the real downfalls of the course (that I cannot compromise on as a low-mid end player) come down to the green speeds. But for the area it holds a key spot in being extremely approachable for new players or casuals due to a low price and low expectations.
