Rockway Vineyards Golf Course

About
Rockway Vineyards Golf Course offers an 18-hole championship round with the Niagara Escarpment and the Rockway Conservation Area serving as the backdrop. The course sprawls across the vineyards of the Rockway Vineyards Estate Winery. The rolling landscape provides tricky elevation changes and there are numerous ponds and bunkers throughout the golf course. The layout features large, sculpted greens and fairways that are flanked by more than 60 sand bunkers. The front nine features a challenging set of par 4s and fast, undulating greens. Vineyards's back nine begins gently with short approach shots and birdie opportunities but becomes more challenging once you hit the 13th hole, a par-4 dogleg left.

Drainage needed in traps. Ponds now
My friend lost 2 balls in the traps. They have always been on the poor side.
Would be costly to fix. But if you want to be a A course. It is needed.
Very nice layout
The course was in good shape for all the play it gets and the dry weather it has experienced this year.
Great staff and course
Upon arrival staff was welcoming and professional. Starter was informed and treated us fantastic as tourists. I would give this course more than a 5 star rating if I could. Fun day!!!!
Love this course!!
rockway is one of our favorites. But….we were backed up on every hole sometimes by 2 groups…also why???? Why? Do people play loud music!!!! We were in the middle of 2 groups playing very loud music!!!! This was very annoying!!!! When was this allowed???
Fire Marshall Bill!!!!!!!!!
The course is nice, I have played this course many times from it's inception as I grew up in this area. It at one time was among the top in the area. After my recent experience with an older gentelman, the Marshall on the course by the name "Bill". Start out the day with tee times 4 minutes apart from one another, that's a red flag already. For the first 6 holes we waited on every tee. One of our foursome played a ball into an opposite fairway. He went on to wait for the group ahead to play their balls before playing his own. He then played that ball in front of the tee block of the group in front of us in the opposite fairway again. We then had to wait for all 4 players In the group in front to tee off before he was the able to play his 3rd shot on the hole. We fell behind the group in front after that hole. We all grabbed "1" beer each on the turn, nothing too excessive. Now there were two holes between us and the group ahead of us going on to 10. We were confronted by the Marshall(Bill) on the 11th hole and told to pick up the pace, because we were behind by 2 holes. Not a problem, I understand, and we played much faster to try to catch up. It was the 13th hole, where the marshall(Bill) got more stern with us saying we were still behind too far and to perhaps play the shorter tee blocks. Now, I'm no professional, sure! But, just the thought of Bill telling me to play the lesser blocks to speed up play, was insulting, as if to say "it's our quality of play" that is hindering us. I shot a 39 from the back tees on the front nine, my partner had a 39 from the same tee blocks. So just the thought of "Bill" telling me where to play, while ignoring my explanation of the delay, was too much for me. I had the worst experience i have ever endured on a golf course for the remaining 6 holes of golf.
It was a blistering hot day(record breaking), and we had not even seen the beverage cart all day. It was on the 16th fairway where we first saw the beverage cart, only to find out that someone very ignorant and unsympathetic had told the beverage cart to not serve us any alcohol. Do you know how it feels to not only lose focus of the golf, but then also be denied a drink on the hottest day of the year by the 16th hole, when we were at our hottest in the day too I might add. Was our one beer at the turn too much? Were we too drunk after 1 beer? Was somebody being biased and ignorant of the facts when they denied us drinks on 16? Was someone being a little too power trippy when they accused us of slow play.. when you put a 4 minute gap between groups off the 1st tee?
I am extremely appalled at our treatment at Rockway Glen golf course by everyone there, but especially by "Fire" Marshall Bill who singlehandedly ruined what could have been a great day, and made it my #1 worst golf experience ever. I will not play here EVER again unless someone reaches out to me ,after reading this, and apologizes for such disgraceful treatment. By the way,we played the back nine in LESS THEN 2 hours.
I hope this review reaches that ignorant old man, upon which after he's done reading it you turn to him and say "Bill, your marshalling days have come to an end, we respect our paying customers too much than to keep a buffoon like you employed here... your FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great as Always !!
Great course like usual. Staff always Great and friendly like always again.
Good day
Played as a single, got grouped with 3 very nice gentlemen and shot a good round - the last 2 holes are really tough and inflated my score a bit but the course was beautiful and in top shape. A little pricey but all in all a good value because it included a cart.
Fix Traps
Drainage, remove stones in them, add sand. Not rocket sience. Beechwood did it. So should Rockway. Traps you give up on fill properly seed water. Again Bill Murray could do it right.
