Rolling Hills Challenge Unplayable
The temperature was high of 9 Celsius (felt like 3 Celsius), overcast and windy but still decided to play after a long winter. However, the course looked terrible. Many of the fairways were very wet and unplayable. Many holes had temporary tee boxes and temporary greens on many holes. The bad greens were expected this time of year. The men's washroom is located in the banquet are and a bit far from the proshop. Wish I stayed home.
Early spring
Good course and considering it was late March the greens were actually really good. Looking forward to playing again.
Great deal for time of season
Found pace of play a little slow considering the time of the season. Otherwise course was in good condition and we had a great round.
Slow play
Too crowded slow play poor conditions and no Marshall made for disappointing round.
Course is nice
This course is nice to play for beginners and quite entertaining for intermediate players.
Take the Good with the Bad - Slow but Fun.
This was a great course for the money I paid. A friend and I went on the Sunday of Labour Day weekend, so naturally it was pretty busy, but we tried to get out early. There was no starter, so that created a bit of confusion and we were held up quite a bit, so pace of play suffered. As mentioned, we were a twosome behind two foursomes.
Course conditions were not great, but it is the end of the year and the rain has not cooperated over the past 3 months.
I'd love to come back at a time which was not as busy, as I really enjoyed the course layout. It was open and forgiving for your drives, but most approach shots presented some challenging hazards. The Marshall was very friendly.
The clubhouse was large and the restaurant had some decent beer and a great menu.
i shot par!!!
This review is slightly biased, since i had the best round of my life! shot a 70!! despite hitting a barn and a tractor on the first hole! the course is a moderate length, with a number of par 3s and 5s to balance things out. Fairly short par 4's and nothing over 500. If you hit long u can really attack this course. Greens are easy. only complaint was of the bunkers, they really werent very playable this weekend. All in all great times at rolling hills.
Easy Course - Good confidence booster!
Played this course on a really nice day outside. Nearly all fairways are completely straight, I can't remember a single blind corner. I didn't like how the grass just off the fairway was really long, I ended up losing 2 balls just because it wasn't cut properly.
I met several staff members and thought all were EXTREMELY friendly. Because of them, I'll certainly be back.
One thing that I didn't like is how close the tee-blocks are to previous greens. If you overshoot a green, there's a chance it's hitting someone who isn't paying attention.
Overall, this course is great for beginners and the price was decent as well.
Need irrigation
Course is hard as heck. Tee decks are to close to each other. No irrigation.
Thank you for taking time to respond after playing our Challenge Course. We have struggled through this drought (30+ degrees for over 20 days and no rain) to get water to certain areas of the golf course.
great for a sunday mornin'
Early in the morning on a weekend all the greens had been tended to. They were in great shape. Pace of play, for the second group, was excellent. The staff has always been fantastic, dating back to the pre-clublink days. The motorized carts are in good shape. Very enjoyable round indeed.
course in bad condition
The condition of the fairways was very poor, parched dry grass, and hard earth beneath it. It wasn't until after the round that we were told that this course does not receive regular irrigation as do their other courses. If this fact was explained up front, I would not have booked. We had a couple groups of kids in front of us on foot, so play was fairly slow. We were simply a twosome in a power cart, therefore I feel the starter could have allowed us to play through.
No Marshal help out on slow play
Played this course few years ago when start playing golf. However, don’t waste your time with this course because the pace of play is excruciating. No Marshal and starters will not help push the play along. The poor players don’t know enough to let people play through, the management doesn’t care, and the course layout makes this course a nightmare for decent players. If you are a consistent player stay away. Two of us only played 15 holes and left the course due to the long wait time.
Very forgiving
First time golfing at the Grange and very satified
Okay course

Busy
It's not very nice when you buy an advertised booking for 1 golfer and they put you In with a threesome. This day I had a tight schedule and I got partnered with three 70 year olds. Needless to say I only got to play 12 holes.
I guess the course was only open a week or so, it was very crowded and the sand traps were ponds.
This course had 5 par 5's but was kind of boring, I won't book this one again.
Seriously you thought it was a booking for ONE.... Wow
Very good course for beginners
Played eight times with my wife in late October and thru November. In retirement, my wife is learning to play so this course is a very good fit for her as it is wide open, short, flat and has almost no water. I have played for over 50 years and grew up on a short country course so, while I have been a member of well known and highly manicured Toronto private course for over 20 years, I enjoyed playing with my wife on the Challenge course, even if it is clearly misnamed. Kind of fun to be able to drive one or two of the par fours and lots of 60 degree wedge practice on the rest. Generally we played in the afternoon and it took about 1:50 hours to play a nine and about 3:45 for 18. One time it took us 2 hours for nine, which on such a short course does feel long. If no one got in my way I could play this course with a buddy in 2 hours. We got teamed up with another retired couple about half the time. Course condition was OK considering how late in the season we played and it wasn't the US Open so we opted for lift clean and place when necessary. If you are looking for manicured and challenging course you should certainly look elsewhere. However, if you are looking for a reasonably priced round on a easy, and easy walking course, and can put up with a lot of older Class C golfers it is a pretty good deal if the price is right on GolfNow.
Average Course
The Challenge course is very average, no great features - only challenge is crossing the river 4 times. Greens are quite small and many had tree branches on them
