The Golf Club at Lora Bay
About
Tucked away in the Blue Mountains, The Club at Lora Bay offers a stunning view of the Georgian Bay. The golf course was carved from the mature woodlands along the Nipissing Ridge, incorporating wildlife preserves and century-old barns into the design. The scenic course even features idyllic apple orchards along the fairways. While the rustic charm can be enchanting, don't let it distract you too much from the challenging layout. Numerous bunkers are strategically placed throughout and brooks and ponds come into play on several holes. The third hole is one of the toughest on the golf course. It is the longest par-3 with a pond that runs all along the right side from tee to green and trees and a tricky bunker to the left.

Great Course -but
Their policy of having to pay 100% in full at the time of booking is not very nice. If for whatever reason someone has to cancel, no money is refunded. Even weather related cancellations - no refund; only gift certificates given. When you travel 4 hours and are not likely to ever go back, the policy sucks.
Have to go through hoops to play at Lora Bay
Lora Bay policies and procedures get in the way and they hold you to a higher standard than they hold themselves to.
- Pay in advance or else
- Fill out a waiver or else
- Old hole #1 is the new 10 and visa versa but many signs remain unchanged…and where are the rangers??
Nice course but experience plagued by BS.
Sorry.
Not in a rush to return but I wish that I was because it could be great fun at Lora Bay.
Recent lora bay visit
Restaurant food & staff were excellent but the course does not warrant the green fee’s charged at all
Nice course, little rough around the edges
It’s a nice layout but the greens were slow and there were weeds growing in the bunkers….a LOT of weeds…for $130. They also need to readjust the white tees for women. A decent female player shouldn’t have to play 400 yard par 4’s. I was a female CPGA pro and if it was over 400 yds it was a par 5. I probably won’t come back.
Great course layout
A bit expensive considering the construction on the back nine and condition of some areas around the green as well as the sand traps which were not playable. $90 would be reasonable.
This golf course is not in good shape and has gone downhill for the past 2-3 years. Too bad since it is nicely laid out and a pretty course but the greens are now average at best and the fairways are not taken tended properly. It seems that thte new owners are much more interested in building houses rather than maintaining the quality of the golf course.
It is highly unlikely that we will return again next year as we have for the past five years.
Father's Day Golf Trip 2023
Love Lora Bay. The layout is great. The course is challenging. Greens are quick and consistent.
Disappointed with the construction on the course and the condition of the bunkers. I understand construction is required, but paying as much as we did for a course that had 9 holes under construction was tough to take. Course will great once the construction is done.
Sand traps under reconstruction and a total mess. Rest of course it’s usual good condition
Perfect Day
We had perfect weather 25 and very little wind if any.
Course conditions
Generally poor conditions. Sand traps not maintained.
Great Course
Lora Bay is a great place to golf. Pace of play is always perfect, staff are friendly….you can book 14 days in advance. Never had a bad round at Lora Bay and have been golfing there for more than 15 years!!
Potential to be good...
Despite calling in a week prior to the round, we were left with the impression only a few bunker repairs were still in progress (and repairs anticipated to have been completed by the start date of our round).
I would say the majority of the bunkers upon arrival were unplayable. Large sections of some holes on the back 9 were under repair (entire right side of hole "10").
The course has flipped the front and back 9's such that you start on hole 10. There are printed signs which indicate this correctly however when you arrive to each tee box, markers (in stone) still show the old numbering convention.
We played twilight and none of the staff were sure if cart service was still being provided at our start. We discovered only at the turn, there was no service on the course.
Small range available for practice which is nice.
Overall for the price, I was expecting more to be honest. Prices have since gone up for the summer season so I will not likely return or recommend.
Over priced
Course was an over priced construction zone. Not worth the money at all.
