The Golf Club at Lora Bay

This is at best an $90 dollar golf course and not the $150 we paid today. Bunkers and greens were in bad shape. None of the bunkers had been raked. Some had very little sand in them. We complained to the pro shop and we were told the they would let the turf crew know. (Big deal)

The couple we played with got an email advising them that the greens had been punched. We didnt get the message. Saying that the sand put on the greens was excessive and had not been swept.

We will not go back to this course.

Ok layout. some fairways were waterlogged due to bad drainage. Sand traps unplayable

Each hole is different in layout,, elevation etc. Have played many times in the past, and enjoyed the return.

Quite pricey., perhaps the reason so many tee times were available. Compare Batteaux Creek at $58???

Also having to sign off on extensive waivers is ridiculous and will keep people away! Me included!

Very nice golf course. Well maintained and very nice views. Silly decisions on pin placements last few times I’ve been. For example hole 16 (I think it was 16) the pin was one pace off the front. One pace. Green runs aggressively back to front so if you’re deep good luck keeping it on the putting surface as down hill putts are lightning fast. Few other pins put directly on crests of slopes, so any error and you’re left with 4-10 feet coming back. For the price you would think there would be gps in the carts which there isn’t, and that would be fine if there were stakes, which there aren’t. There are yardage stones in the fairway but you have to go find them as they are in the ground.

It’s a nice course though. I make the trip to play here minimum once per year. If making a long trip for a weekend I’d look elsewhere though.

All the course bunkers were closed and required a drop to continue play. The staff have forgotten who is the customer (seems to be a theme here in Ontario) and is paying their salaries. Rude and un accommodating. The course was water logged due to poor design and drainage. Otherwise a nice track in good condition with excellent, fast greens. not sure what is going on here in Ontario but every course I have played since moving back here in May has had rude and surly staff. Must be overall problem with the labour market, but a bad experience with the staff at a course can be the difference between a good day of golfing and a bad round.

This course is not elite, not high end, not worth the money. Unless you like paying for cement bunkers, brusk staff, old carts, no beverage carts... should I go on?
