The Golf Club at Lora Bay
About
Tucked away in the Blue Mountains, The Club at Lora Bay offers a stunning view of the Georgian Bay. The golf course was carved from the mature woodlands along the Nipissing Ridge, incorporating wildlife preserves and century-old barns into the design. The scenic course even features idyllic apple orchards along the fairways. While the rustic charm can be enchanting, don't let it distract you too much from the challenging layout. Numerous bunkers are strategically placed throughout and brooks and ponds come into play on several holes. The third hole is one of the toughest on the golf course. It is the longest par-3 with a pond that runs all along the right side from tee to green and trees and a tricky bunker to the left.

Not worth $170 to play
Not worth the money. Not sure why it’s so expensive. Half of the courses bunkers were under repair and it was still $170. A lot of houses on the course as well takes away from the golf a bit. Some views of Georgian bay but nothing spectacular.
Disappointed
I live on the old 11th fairway now number 2 and found this nine in good shape but the greens were running slow. The back nine was a disappointment because of all the construction on course. It obviously will reap rewards later this year and into the future but that wasn’t worth the top buck they are charging.
Great course but……
This course is always great. Views are spectacular and changing to start on old 10th hole is better.
How ever, almost every bunker was under repair and had to be played as GIR.
Why do so many at once
Also some key fairway bunkers were removed and replaced with grass. It really changed the play of the holes.
I assume this was to speed up play but ‘dumb downed’ the holes.
It will still be a nice course when all the changes are done but it tainted this round
Poor Conditions
Bunkers were a mess, fairways were dry. I was very disappointed with the conditions.
First Time
Nice Layout with large greens, nice tee decks and fairly forgiving fairways that are in good shape. Nice putting area and range.
As others have mentioned, a lot of the bunkers on the back 9 are unplayable as they are under repair so be prepared for that. The ones that are in play are in good shape and really protect most of the greens.
The proshop staff were friendly and efficient, as was the bartender after our first 9. No issue at all with the staff. Starter Jim was great and gave us a good chat at the first hole as we had never played there..
Overall, maybe a bit pricey.. but what course isn’t these days. Would definitely recommend.
Overall, a nice course
Disappointing
Had some friends visit to play golf , booked Lora Bay some time ago, not knowing or being made aware that there was major changes taking place, bunkers being removed, new sod etc etc, greens were in rough shape as well. Have played it many times in the past and was excited to bring my friends to play, unfortunately it was a disappointment.
Many traps under construction Fresh sod
I understand they ere renovating but not worth the green fee
too much maintenance to charge full price
Nice course but all the sand traps on the front were awful and all the traps on the back were GUR. No discount? Really? Staff were all great though.
Great course but under construction and overpriced
The course has a great layout and has spectacular views of the lake. The finishing hole is one of the best I’ve played.
However, the course is under major construction and the greens fee of $130 + HST in my opinion is much too hefty for the condition it’s in. Most of the bunkers are unplayable. The greens are a little furry and not what I would have expected of a course of this calibre. Our foursome was very disappointed and I gave that feedback to the pro shop. They thanked me for my feedback. Perhaps a credit on a future round would have been more appropriate.
Under Major Construction
Under major construction. No sand in most bunkers loose gravel instead. Sod patches on majority of back nine. Was not worth the money to play a free drop on most shots. Kitchen was also closed. Shouldn’t be 170 dollars to play a course under that much repair.
Under construction
The good news is demand exceeds supply in the Blue Mountains… but the construction (which will be awesome when done), makes the course very rough and price premium while under that state of construction.
Back nine was under construction with lots of bunker out of play and ground under repair.
Pace of play was slow with no marshalling to move things along.
