A gem of a course.
After hearing from many other golfers, from Oakville to Aurora, on their very positive experiences, at Marlwood, I decided that any excuse to go to Wasaga Beach was worth it, to see if it really was as advertised.
The experience was definitely everything I was told. Well maintained course , a challenging, but fair, layout, very friendly & professional staff, good price, and just an overall good vibe !!!
Plenty of golf carts, but an enjoyable ( and not too difficult walk) if you choose to really get the full experience of all it has to offer.. I will definitely return to this Gem !!!
Pace of play
Somehow a group of 5 was in front of us and backed up play considerably. Then another couple skipped in front of us which exasperated the pace even further. Not the norm for this course.
No rain check!?
Course in decent shape. Played 11 holes, lightning and thunder hit at 7:20pm after pro shop was closed. We left without hearing the horn. So did everyone else on the course. When I called the pro shop in the morning to inquire the staff informed me that they didn’t close the course and no rain check would be given. Curious about the lightning and NOT closing the course… is this allowed? This course is a good value but probably won’t return.
Three hour front 9 behind ladies leagues. Staff didn’t care, we’re unapologetically and were unable to enforce any basic level of pace of play - called it a day after 9 holes.
I have played Marlwood nine times this year. It is good value for the money and occasionally I have paid next to nothing on a hot deal. The course is short but nice and is challenging. Greens and fairways always in excellent condition. This was the second time that the pace of play was poor. There are Marshalls on the course but I think they just drive around and say hello. Two groups in front of us we could see some young guys hitting 3 or 4 balls each off the tee, with no one in sight ahead of them. I suppose I can't blame the Marshalls in a sense because people yell at them.
Great course for the cost !!!
This is a fantastic golf course and one that exceeds expectations given the price. Well maintained greens with challenging tee boxes. The course may not be long on paper but certainly sets up a lot more difficult than it looks. I recommend this course when in the Tiny / Wasaga Beach area.
Gem
What a pleasure, a very enjoyable round. This course has some great staff and makes it a definite on our playlist. Some minor issues ( bunkers) but still a fun track
All good but one greenskeeper!
Really enjoyed the course and the round except for one rude green keeper that is lacking in the respect department.Oh well, life is too short to stay frustrated just because of one d..k in the crowd! The rest of the staff were great
booked an hour before the tee time on a hot deal. used my monthly credit and points. course is always in good condition. only had time to play nine. pace of play was very good. only waited a few times for the group in front.
