General George V. Underwood, Jr. Golf Complex - Sunset Course
About
Set on the grounds of Fort Bliss, Underwood sells itself as an affordable alternative to the other El Paso courses, as well as a place for the high handicapper to learn the game. This facility has two regulation 18-hole courses: the Sunset, a parkland-style track, and the Sunrise, a newer, desert-style course.
Sunset, built in 1934, is an easier, flat course, void of water hazards. The front nine is loaded with three par 5s over 500 yards, including the monster 574-yard No. 9. The back nine plays shorter with three par 3s and two par 5s. Hole 11 is the toughest par 4, a 452-yard dogleg right, but the other 4-pars are all under 400 yards.

Underwood Golf
This course has two 18 hole courses and great layouts but it needs some TLC! The fairways are dry if your ball lands on dirt it's like hit off a rock. Most of the greens are patched up. It's sad knowing if the courses were taken care it would be an awesome place to golf.
Sunset Course
I played the Sunset Course, which is the less fancy / beginner's course. The course is well-maintained, though the high desert conditions left the greens sparse a couple times. It's a pretty great course.
A Great Dog Run
This course used be in the top 30% in El Paso, now you can barely recognize a golf course. Water breaks all over. Greens have been destroyed. And honestly it doesn't look like anyone is doing anything to repair it.
