This course has a divine view
The course sits almost a top of a little mountain setting you up for spectacular views. The conditions were a little off but might’ve been due to construction. The greens were great and the tee boxes were in prestige’s conditions. Wind conditions play a huge factor due to where the course is situated. Unfortunately for me, heavy gust caused so much sand and dirt to make it impossible to see. I was only able to finish the first 9 holes, but would love to play the full 18 on less windy days.
First time but not last time
This course is in the top 2 for me for play. But its top tier for clubhouse and restaurant. Pace of play was horrible the day I played and you have your "regulars" that will make you feel un welcomed and get hit into a few times. But overall enjoyed it
Awful- Winter is not excuse for the way this course is.
I remember when this course use to be top of the line . It’s awful now. The sand traps aren’t even sand, just desert dirt. The fairways are being taken over by the desert.
The one staff who was very friendly was at the end of our round picking up the carts. He reminded us to take everything and helped us. Other than that, I’m so disappointed in what this course has become.
Ouch !!!
Save for the 18 pins and the 18 tee boxes, you would be hard pressed to know this is a golf course !
Challenge accepted
This course was a a lot of fun. The desert terrain along the rough was very unforgiving but the challenge of being accurate off the tee was a welcome challenge. I had a great time navigating the course and the sunset offer the Franklin mountains was worth the green fees in itself.
Will definitely return for a second round.
Poor service, rushed gameplay, no amenities
Second time playing at this course. Marshals were super pushy with gameplay, attendants were unfriendly. Seems as though they squeeze in way too many tee times. Cashier seemed to be bothered with patrons despite slow weekday. No drink cart girls or service at all for 18 holes. Course layout is great but given the location in the middle of the desert, be prepared to lose sleeves of balls all over the course due to all the cacti, foliage and shrubs with thorns. Would not recommend this course AT ALL. Go to Horizon instead and have a great time there.
Working hard
The biggest upset with butterfield is the greens are bad. But since this my home course I get to witness how hard they work trying to restore the greens. Im here weekly and watching them work daily on it. Beautiful course and they are doing a great job. Perfect for the money.
Cancelled My GolfNow Reservation for Private Event
You would think they would block out times in advance. I didn’t even get a message from the club. GolfNow sent me the message. The course conditions have been marginal for years. Just thought I’d give it a try. Never again
Best challenging desert course in the El Paso/ Las Cruces area
The Tim Fazio designed golf course is still the most challenging course in El Paso. Most greens had good ball rolling conditions. #4 had temp that was fast. Couple of greens had bare spots but nothing crazy. All fairways were in good condition. The course is still beautiful. I haven’t play it in a long time. For course owners please focus on the natural sand traps that made this course immaculate when it opened. Clean up the desert valleys like Par 3 #9. Highly recommend a round for all visitors. Great location near airport and Fort Bliss. Awesome views of desert and El Paso’s Franklin Mountains.
Greens
Did not tell me that green were punch.
They were slow and not in great condition.
But course is nice
