About
Formally known as Del Norde Country Club and Cielo Vista Golf Course, this basic, flat course has long been known as the easiest course in El Paso. This short layout features wide-open fairways, large bent-grass greens, and minimal bunkering and water hazards. Yet there are a few spots where scores can add up, as many of the fairways dogleg, and more than a few approaches offer minimal views of the green because of the trees that have been added over the years.
In terms of notable holes, the signature is the 435-yard par 4 No. 2, tough because of its length and approach into a narrow, multi-level green. Be ready for No. 11, a 575-yard par 5 that features a long dogleg left with loads of trouble along that side. Big hitters might be able to cut the corner on this hole. No. 18 features a lake in the corner of the dogleg left that impacts both the tee shot and approach on this 380-yard hole.
Getting there : Adjacent to the El Paso Airport. From I-10 heading east, exit Hawkins and drive north. The course is on the right side of the street.

Nice round
Course is in good condition. Temporary greens until April 1st, but regular greens already look great.
Much better than yrs ago
Its been several yrs since I played Lone Star but I must say it's better than what I remember! Who ever the course superintendent is, he's doing a great job of improving this course. There are MANY dead trees that I'm sure will be removed before someone gets hurt do to a falling branch. All and all, I will play there again SOON!
Easy Course
The staff was very friendly and very accompanied !! The course conditions have been better in the past during this season but not too bad. They had temporary greens in front of the actual greens to play on since the actual greens were aerated. A discount was given due to the temporary greens but it was still overpriced for 18 holes with a cart. Overall it’s a nice course, but for the price it’s too expensive.
Greens Under Repair!!!
Overall conditions were playable for the season. Greens are being patched and repaired. Some worse than others. The good ones have great pace and true roll. The bad ones are worse than mini golf. Overall great course for the price value. Definitely playing again.
Closed holes
I ask the personal if the course was playable, because I seen some machinery no the side , guys told me it was good to play , then we find out one of the holes was closed , two other holes without flags on green ,they where replacing all the irrigation sistem, water dispensers not working , no cart Gil’s on course , basically the course it’s in poor conditions.
Course under renovations
Overall the course was in decent shape but it should be made clear when the greens are being worked on. In addition, the entire 9th hold was shut down for what appeared to be sprinkler system insulation. I would not recommend paying full price until the course renovations have been completed.
Could benefit from having a Course Marshall in staff
Pace of play was too slow. I understand it’s a popular course but there was a group of 5 ahead of us that were drinking way too much and playing way too little.

Best in the area
Lone Star golf course has done amazing work to the course to be ready for spring and summer play. The greens are soft and responsive but also roll smoothly and fast. There is one green that was not ready and they did a good job making a new one just in front of it.
