Freeport Municipal Golf Course
About
Freeport's muni is more of a links-style track noted for its solid par 5 holes. Water comes into play in the form of rivers and lakes, but the course isn't overloaded with water. The par 5s in question each play well over 500 yards, and they're all rated as the most difficult holes on the course. No. 9 is the longest at 557 yards, but the most difficult is No. 7 at 520 yards.
Getting there : Driving north on Hwy. 36, turn right at Slaughter Rd. You will see the course when Slaughter dead-ends.

Great value; Goid course.
The links style course is flat and has many water hazards.
Some of the holes are along the Brazos River.
I enjoyed it, even though the greens were rough. I be was told by several others that the greens were typically very nice, but the gas recently been aerated and heavily sanded.
I'm a 13 handicap and shot 13 over par.
It's secluded, but I'd go back when I'm in the Lake Jackdon area.
Great value
It's a very well maintained course with excellent greens. Not many trees in play but water on almost every hole. The wind makes it pretty tough as well. Definitely worth the green fee
DO NOT BOOK THIS COURSE ON GOLFNOW
I booked a tee time for the full 18 plus the cart fee. Yet after I got playing the front 9, the course made me pay more money in order to play the back 9….
This was ridiculous and the course new exactly what they were doing. It was very wrong of them and I am honestly disgusted by the way I was treated. The old guy needs to be spoken to by his boss and dealt with, as many people on the course said he treats customers like crap all the time.
Freeport
The front nine plays long with the south wind blowing. I love the difficulty of all the water hazards. The back nine is set up for a low score. Always nice to finish strong!
great course for price, with wind and layout, can be challenging course. definitely recommend this course for anyone to play.
Super enjoyable day
The staff is always incredibly helpful and friendly. Enjoy having this course local. Greens were in the best shape I've seen them in ages.
Great greens
Played on a Tuesday which turned out to be discount day and pretty packed but managed to form up with 3 other singles and finish last 15 holes. Water on lot of holes but greens were very good and well maintained. Play was a little slow but weather and company made for a good day of golf.
Great Value
Drove out to Freeport, been a while since I’ve played here and enjoyed the course. I ended up walking because there were not enough carts, but the day was absolutely beautiful, and not a bad walk. Really impressed by the conditions of the greens! Fairways were a little soggy, but in overall ok shape. To me, a steal at $20 on a Sunday, if you don’t mind the drive.. Don’t cut it close on your tee time, the traffic can be an issue right by the entrance road to the course due to construction.
Wide open fun !
Have played this course many times and it’s always a blast. It’s far from Houston so make a day out of it. Cannot beat the prices , especially on a hot deal. Cheap beer , gators and wildlife etc. bring some bug spray though 👍
Greens
Course was in good shape and the greens were in excellent condition.
Great Venue
Course is i great shape if you can eliminate the Hog damage to the grounds. Great friendly staff.
