Freeport Municipal Golf Course
About
Freeport's muni is more of a links-style track noted for its solid par 5 holes. Water comes into play in the form of rivers and lakes, but the course isn't overloaded with water. The par 5s in question each play well over 500 yards, and they're all rated as the most difficult holes on the course. No. 9 is the longest at 557 yards, but the most difficult is No. 7 at 520 yards.
Getting there : Driving north on Hwy. 36, turn right at Slaughter Rd. You will see the course when Slaughter dead-ends.

Unexpectedly nice course
Didn’t know what to expect in this area at this price point and were pleasantly surprised🙂
Awesome
Tee-boxes, fairways and greens are in good shape; greens like carpets and fairly high pace. Very good value for the price, worth the drive down from Houston
Worth the trip and every penny
This course maybe a bit of a drive, but you will not find value like this anywhere else in the Houston area. Fairways were full and it great shape. Greens rolled true and decnet with minimal patchy spots. Beat value hands down within 50 miles of houston!!!
Very nice course. Very surprised. Greens are near perfect conditions. Rolled true. Fairways are nice too. Make sure you stay in them. For the price of fees, can't beat it it anywhere.
Rude staff
When I booked my round through Military Tee Times the confirmation email stated I’d paid for two greens fees and 1/2 of the cart rental fee. When I checked in at the clubhouse and provided proof of reservation and payment, the two girls working argued with me and told me I hadn’t paid for any part of a cart fee, then charged me $35 for two carts, and then offered me a free bucket of range balls when I stated that I only needed one cart, and I had to argue with them to get a refund for the extra cart. Somehow, $35 for two carts translated into only a $15 refund for one cart and it was like pulling teeth just to get that back from them. After watching them interact with other customers it seemed as if their general attitude was that having to deal with customers was an inconvenience, and it showed.
Great value; Goid course.
The links style course is flat and has many water hazards.
Some of the holes are along the Brazos River.
I enjoyed it, even though the greens were rough. I be was told by several others that the greens were typically very nice, but the gas recently been aerated and heavily sanded.
I'm a 13 handicap and shot 13 over par.
It's secluded, but I'd go back when I'm in the Lake Jackdon area.
Great value
It's a very well maintained course with excellent greens. Not many trees in play but water on almost every hole. The wind makes it pretty tough as well. Definitely worth the green fee
DO NOT BOOK THIS COURSE ON GOLFNOW
I booked a tee time for the full 18 plus the cart fee. Yet after I got playing the front 9, the course made me pay more money in order to play the back 9….
This was ridiculous and the course new exactly what they were doing. It was very wrong of them and I am honestly disgusted by the way I was treated. The old guy needs to be spoken to by his boss and dealt with, as many people on the course said he treats customers like crap all the time.
Freeport
The front nine plays long with the south wind blowing. I love the difficulty of all the water hazards. The back nine is set up for a low score. Always nice to finish strong!
