About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2017.
Derrell Witt had a hand in many of Carlton Gipson's successes, including Houston-area tracks like Greatwood, and the impressive renovations at BraeBurn Country Club. Pine Crest was his first solo project, and he was able to use his background in landscape architecture to move over 250,000 cubic feet of dirt tocreate 13 lakes that form the basis of this semi-private course. The water helps the crew keep it in lush condition compared to other courses in the area.
The best hole is the last one, playing 571 yards into a narrow, tree-lined fairway with an approach over water to the green.

Terrible, save your money
This place is in terrible condition, and the workers don't seem very professional.
Pine Crest Golf Course has potential, but....
The course has a great layout with nice greens. The course needs attention to details. Suggestions: Get someone on a weed-eater for the ponds and trees. I observed a worker filling Par 3 tee box divots. He would dump a small pile of sand on the divots and wouldn't spread it. Hence, I see why all the Par 3 tee boxes are bumpy and you have to move around a bit to find flat footing. There is also water standing on the course that a little shovel work would easily cure. On the back nine, I noticed a plastic garbage bag stuck in a culvert that was holding water back from draining and a couple workers drove by without doing anything about it. They obviously don't care. Anyway, the course has potential and the management needs to step it up to take this course to the next level, which will not require excessive spending.
combine twosomes; not worth fee
Pace of play was too slow. Marshals need to take a tip from Golfnow bookings. I paid over $145.00 with fee for our foursome through Golfnow.
I could only book a twosome or foursome through Golfnow. I assume that is so staff can combine twosomes easily. We followed a twosome, with a threesome ahead of them, and a twosome behind us. Need to group the singles and twosomes to speed up play.
jhemmi - We appreciate you taking the time to write a review about your experience with us. We hope you will come back and play again soon!
Could be nice
The course has a nice layout and has potential to be a fun playable course. The greens were in rough shape. Tee boxes and fairways had a lot of hard pan dead spots.
kupe5501 - Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your experience with us. We are constantly working on course conditions and hope we will see you again soon.
Course maintenance needs to be improved
Course signage needs to be improved significantly,

Absolutely horrible conditions
This course used to be a nice course, it is awful condition all in all areas, tees, fairways, greens.
We are sorry that we did not exceed your expectations this time. We hope you will come back and see us again soon.
Not what it used to be...
I've played this course on and off for the better part of 20 years. It was sad to say that my latest attempt at a round would probably be my last. The course was completely and absolutely unplayable. Between the weeds towering over a foot tall throughout the fairways, the overgrown areas that used to be sand traps, the littering of countless cigarette butts, and the lack (or complete absence) of greens keepers, Pinecrest has officially cemented its place as a course that "used to be".
When I returned to the clubhouse and asked for a refund after just two holes, the only reaction I got was "what did you expect?". I guess I expected what Pinecrest used to be... a nice place to play a round of golf. It certainly isn't that anymore.
We are sorry to hear that we did not exceed your expectations this time. We would like to speak with you. Please email us at PineCrestCCTeeTimes@outlook.com.

Decent course, but poor condition
Pine Crest is a nice course, and is generally pretty quiet during the week. The condition isn't great though, with very little grass on the fairways and too much sand on the greens. The management obviously want the greens to be as fast as possible, but they cut them so low that the grass is practically dead, the surface is bumpy and the roll is unpredictable. It was a cart path only day due to some rain the night before. Even though the course had all but dried up by the time we tee'd off, and was bone-dry when we finished, the marshall didn't allow us to drive on the fairway which was disappointing.
We appreciate you taking the time to write a review about your experience with us. We hope we will see you back on the course!
Condition of course
The course was in below average condition, the fairways and ruff ran together and the greens had just been sanded and were impossible to putt. It will be a long time before I return. The pro shop had a very repulsive odor to it and I felt uneasy there.
We are very sorry to hear that we did not exceed your expectations. We would like to speak with you further regarding your experience. Please email us at PineCrestCCTeeTimes@outlook.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

Payed 16 out of 18
Tee boxes and Greens in rough shape; 5 hr round. Several holes are smashed together, so heads up!
I thought they could have moved the boxes on the range; I warmed up on hard mud. I think the maintenance is lacking, but I'm no Head Greenkeeper.
Other than that, I believe they replaced the golf carts, finally. The course is entertaining(at normal pace). And the staff is friendly. I would play again, but probably only during weekday, twilight hours.

Pine Crest Course
The course is in terrible shape. I am not a good scoring golfer to begin with, but the poorly kept fairways, lack of rough(mostly just woods or unkept rough), and terrible greens make it almost impossible to achieve any kind of consistency in ball striking.
I would play here for $20 and be wasted, not worrying about score, but to have a friendly competition, almost would be laughable. If the fairways and greens were better manicured, this course could be really nice.

The course
The course had a nice layout. The greens were in bad shape and the fairways was extremely hard. It's January. Fairways shouldn't feel like a rock. I can understand if I played the course in the middle of Aug. Bottom line, the course wasn't worth the money we paid.

Terrible course, conditions and pace of play
I went to play here because of the previous reviews and the fact that I thought it was a country club. There was hardly any grass on the course, the greens were awful and the bunkers were all inconsistent. Took over 5 hours to play and I am a scratch golfer playing along side two of my friends who are each 10 handicaps. I was really upset I had to pay $38 to play here!!

Great value
Very fair course and great value for the money. It has been raining lately but the course draining system works well. A few areas on cart path need some work.

Great day on the course greens put well
Water drains well at this course. Friendly staff. 90degree rule was perfect for rate of play.

Rude players
In one round my friend and I had two groups hit shots into us. We were keeping very pace of play, we finished 30 min ahead of course time of 4.5 hours. The owners friends and family appear to rule the roost at this course. They hit into groups and or press groups to play faster. One group of four women I watched fish balls out of the lake between the first and eighteenth hole for 15 min, and that was after I watched them pick my ball up. I only play this course if my friends want to play there. I like the course, but not clientele who play there.
Thank you for your review Benjamin. We're glad that your pace of play was not hindered and we'll work to ensure all rules are properly followed. We hope your next experience is much more enjoyable.
Skins Game
So apparently there is a Skins game on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. I had a one o'clock tee time and was plagued by waiting behind a foursome. So I jumped the ninth hole so I could pass them at the turn only to wait on 10 behind a fivesome. They let play thru on 11 only to be stuck behind another fivesome. I called it quits after hole 14 because I was waiting 10-15 minutes for each shot. One my way to the club house I passed two more fivesomes. i have never had any issue at this course in the past but apparently this is allowed and accepted by the pro shop.
We're sorry for your poor experience Steven. This is not acceptable and we will be working to correct this issue. Pleease reach out to us at pinecrestccteetimes@outlook.com as we'd like to ensure your next round is more enjoyable.
