Our recent project announcing America's Top 100 Kid-Friendly Golf Courses also revealed some really good playing opportunities for junior golfers at military courses around the country.
By definition, military golf courses aren't all that friendly for any golfer, let alone a young one, who doesn't live on base. There are usually hurdles civilian golfers must jump to gain access - stopping at guard gate to check in or sometime even online registration that requires approval.
That little extra effort, however, is rewarded by the chance to play some really fun military golf courses, which often are cheaper than surrounding public courses. The incentive for the parents to try these military courses listed below is the $5 green fees for golfers ages 6-18 thanks to Youth on Course.
Youth on Course is a non-profit organization based in California that allows its members the chance to play golf for $5 at more than 2,000 courses in the U.S., Canada and Australia.
These five courses have all been honored by Golfers' Choice as some of the top military facilities in the country. If you live nearby - or are passing through with the golf clubs in tow - they're worth setting up a round for your junior golfer.
