Golf Club at Cinco Ranch
About
Carlton Gipson designed the Golf Club At Cinco Ranch in the early 1990s. It's a long golf course that features an ocean of water impacting play on 16 of 18 holes. For the most part, the holes are straight and open, with minimal trees framing the paths to the greens. The greens are unique because of the unusually shaped bunkers that create very different short game challenges from what one normally finds. One of the best holes is no. 4, a 557-yard par 5 that features an approach shot over water into an elevated green. In addition to the water, the green is fronted by a bunker that is at least 10 feet below the hole. This requires a phenomenal, blind bunker shot for an up-and-down.

Waste of money
It is sad to see how Cinco Ranch golf club has deteriorated over the recent years. This is my second round this year and I will not be coming back. The price value is not worth it. Greens are in terrible condition. Driving range is a pad of dirt and the putting green is closed. None of this is disclosed when you book. You are better off going to any other golf course.
Rough
I booked online which included a cart fee. They paired me with others, which was expected but was told I had to pay extra to ride in my own cart, which is fine but misleading. The driving range was rough, the grass was basically nonexistent. There was no starter at the first tee, I teed off at my tee time, the starter caught up with me just off the green and told me I had to wait for my group. The greens are absolutely trashed. Construction folks who just walk across right in front of tee boxes while people are teeing off. We were told to pick up pace of play by the Marshall; which is fine but we weren’t off pace. Then we were told to slow down by the same Marshall. We were on pace, the guy was just being rude for rude sake.
Typical Cinco Ranch
Greens were in rough shape, with LOTS of landmines and dirt clods all over. Very hard to find a good line. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. VERY slow....teed off at 4:30 pm, and took 3 hours for front 9
Horrible Greens
The greens at Cinco Ranch are awful. The fact that we still had to pay $100 is ridiculous. I will tell anyone who will listen to play somewhere else.
Course is okay
Greens are in rough condition and fairways could use a little love. The price is too high for the conditions we saw.
Terrible putting greens for the fees
The conditions of the putting greens was abysmal. For the the conditions, it should be $40-$50 value for the course. I'm fine withe the conditions if the price justifies it. E.g. Melrose golf course and Sharpstown are worth the price given their conditions.

Poor
I have never played Cinco Ranch and was very much looking forward to it! However, I was shocked at how poorly kept this course was maintained specifically the greens.
Fairways and tee boxes were in decent condition, but greens were simply “un-puttable”. Too many bare spots and a large amout of, for lack of a better term, craters on the greens which made for very inconsistent results. For you price is right fans, I Felt like I was playing “plinko” on every green watching my ball bounce around on the way to the cup.
To charge $100 for this course is unacceptable! I won’t be coming back as there are courses offering much better value than Cinco Ramch.

Awful Condition
It’s been a bit since I’ve played Cinco Ranch, and I was shocked at how poorly kept this course has been. You can tell from the overall condition that it is more than the lack of rain in the Houston area this winter.
Fairways were in terrible condition, only surpassed by how “un-puttable” the greens were. Traps were in terrible condition, no consistency in sand and the lips haven’t been trimmed or patterned in years!
To charge $90 for this course is robbery! I won’t be coming back as there are better value options in Houston!
Thank you for your feedback. This winter has presented some challenges for course conditions, but our maintenance team is actively working to improve the fairways, greens, and bunkers. We appreciate you sharing your experience and hope you’ll consider visiting us again as conditions continue to improve.
Horrible greens
Most of the greens were too slow and were not in a fair shape.

Lots of Construction. really Bad Greens
There was a lot of construction going on, but it didn't impact pace of play, just aesthetics. While it is likely that the poor conditions were due to the grass being dormant, the greens were horrible. There were greens that had hundreds of rings on them from where the holes were moved improperly. 3-5 of the greens had 5'-10' sections of dead/diseased turf.
The staff was very friendly and the clubhouse was nice. For the $115/round I paid I expected much better course conditions though.

A good day for golf in Texas!
Found a great deal on GN. Weather was perfect for golf. Partly Sunny, mid, 70's and a light breeze. Considering the time of year the course was in remarkably good condition.
Thank you for sharing your experience, sesocha! We're thrilled you enjoyed the perfect weather and found a great deal. It's fantastic to hear that the course met your expectations. We hope to see you back out on the greens soon!

Descent course
Staff was courteous and professional. The only real drawbacks, greens were in horrible conditions and the lack of restrooms throughout the course. For the amount being charged for Tee times, restrooms would be great to have throughout the course.
Thank you for your feedback, gn29293672. We're glad to hear you found our staff courteous and professional. We’re actively working on improving the greens and restroom availability to enhance your experience. Your insights are invaluable as we strive to provide a better visit for all our guests.

Fungus, not able to putt
Greens were infected with fungus. Unable to putt on a majority of the greens. Pin placements were put right in the middle of the fungus while open good greens were available. Criminal to charge full prices for these greens.
We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear about your experience with the greens. We are actively addressing maintenance issues to ensure a better playing surface. Your concerns about pricing are noted, and we will strive to improve our services. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Needs Help
I was looking forward to playing here since it's been a while since I've played it last. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Practice range was good since you can warm up on real turf and not mats. Since they were in the process of watering the practice green, couldn't tell you it's condition. Got started on time and if you're aware of this courses history of horrible pace of play, we chose an early time 8am. Pace in the beginning was slow since we had a father attempting to teach his kids golf... not even joking. EVERY SHOT consisted of a gathering with instructions and demonstration with the kids spraying balls all over the place. The pace moved from slow to horrible until we reached the first par 3 and could see there was a complete empty hole in front of them, so we chose to skip the par 3 and jump in front. Best decision we made since after doing that we didn't have to wait for a shot till almost finished.
The course itself was in pretty good shape. Being we haven't had a lot of rain, the fairways were green and pretty lush compared to most courses I've played in the area lately. Biggest issue is the greens. THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!!! Almost unplayable! Don't take my word for it, look at the pictures! They're so bad they almost look like they've been vandalized!! The fact there is NO mention of how bad they are in their website or in the pro shop, is extremely aggravating... specially since there are no discounts offered and the price is still over $100!!! At least 16 of the 18 were bad! As mentioned by someone else's review, they should only charge about $50 until they fix their greens. Overall, definitely not worth the value at this time! Hopefully they'll get them restored before next spring/summer...
