About
Amongst the chemical plants, refinery towers, and wood-lined waterways of La Porte lies the 18-hole Jay Riviere municipal known as Bay Forest. Riviere's design opened in 1988, featuring a tight front nine that opens up on the lake-dominated back side. Water is in play on 16 of 18 holes. Because of La Porte's proximity to the Gulf, the coastal winds make this a long course.
Despite its tight nature, the front nine offers a few nice birdie opportunities, including the short par 3 No. 6. This hole generally only requires a 9 iron to carry the bunker fronting the green.
On the back, the par 5 No. 10 is one of the most birdie-friendly holes on the course. It's followed by the signature No. 11-a great-looking dogleg right that bends around a pond to a well-bunkered green. The play with the approach on 11 is to leave it below the hole.
The par 5 No. 18 is a challenging finisher that requires good golf shots into the wind and the accuracy to avoid the water that sneaks into the fairway in the landing area from the right. The second shot must carry water and a bunker, and the recommended play on the approach is to keep it on the right side of the green.
Getting there : From Hwy. 45 south, take the 610 Loop north. When you come to Hwy. 225 head east and take the Pasadena exit. Turn right, find Hwy. 146 and go south (right). Next, get off at the Fairmont Pkwy. exit and turn left. When you get to South Broadway St., turn right and drive 1 mile to the course. The clubhouse is on the right side of the street.

Disappointing 5 some
Live this course and highly enjoy it. It was disappointing they let 2 five somes ahead of us and no help getting pst them. I have no problem I suppose if people want to play a 5 some but at least give a little Marshall help to someone trying to play through.

Best course conditions played all year!!
A lot of courses struggled with the freeze, greens and rain, not this place. Greens in great shape, fairways is good shape. Best course for your money in the area IMO.

Great Course
Staff very helpful today. Even loaned me a putter. I foolishly forgot mine in another vehicle. This course is a hidden gem near Houston. Well maintained, greens a really good, can’t beat it for the price. I’ll be back soon.

Super value
Played on a Wednesday afternoon. Was not busy and pace of play was perfect. The overall condition of course was outstanding. The location is not convenient for me but it’s worth the drive. One of Houston’s best values! Staff could be friendlier but that’s my only negative.

Hidden Gem
Been golfing in area for 3 years now and never played Bay Forrest look what I’ve been missing!
Superb course layout with a great mix of par 3 ,4 and some reachable 5 s even for me !
Fairways greens and overall course in top condition water in play for I would say 80% of the time but not overly difficult if you think about where your safe area is
Greens ran fast and true but took some reading make sure you look from all around !
My only problem is normally I’m a single player and they don’t publish online for singles I don’t mind being paired up or added to a group in fact that’s what Golf is about

Great course
The course itself was in great shape. I don’t know who made maintenance mad, but the pin locations were no joke! Super challenging but, as always, a ton of fun.

Clubhouse attitude sucks for Golf Now users.
For some reason the clubhouse staff resents that you booked through golf now. They literally make you feel like crap. Like somehow you have taken money from their pocket . I talked to one guy about he apologized for the grumpy old man. Good luck if you make it to the course it’s awesome.

Fun course
Thoroughly enjoyed the course. Lots of water, very challenging. Plays much longer than it looks. Green were in great shape as well as the fairways. Great public course.

No Marshall
I love Bay Forest. The problem is the people that play there regularly. They think they own the course and they slow up play tremendously. This was on a Monday, midmorning and they allowed a five some. I personally don"t care, if they allow groups to go around them as they are playing a money game. We ended up with 3 groups on 1 hole and it just got worse. These guys playing in the five some sucked and I sure wanted to let them know that.
