About
Amongst the chemical plants, refinery towers, and wood-lined waterways of La Porte lies the 18-hole Jay Riviere municipal known as Bay Forest. Riviere's design opened in 1988, featuring a tight front nine that opens up on the lake-dominated back side. Water is in play on 16 of 18 holes. Because of La Porte's proximity to the Gulf, the coastal winds make this a long course.
Despite its tight nature, the front nine offers a few nice birdie opportunities, including the short par 3 No. 6. This hole generally only requires a 9 iron to carry the bunker fronting the green.
On the back, the par 5 No. 10 is one of the most birdie-friendly holes on the course. It's followed by the signature No. 11-a great-looking dogleg right that bends around a pond to a well-bunkered green. The play with the approach on 11 is to leave it below the hole.
The par 5 No. 18 is a challenging finisher that requires good golf shots into the wind and the accuracy to avoid the water that sneaks into the fairway in the landing area from the right. The second shot must carry water and a bunker, and the recommended play on the approach is to keep it on the right side of the green.
Getting there : From Hwy. 45 south, take the 610 Loop north. When you come to Hwy. 225 head east and take the Pasadena exit. Turn right, find Hwy. 146 and go south (right). Next, get off at the Fairmont Pkwy. exit and turn left. When you get to South Broadway St., turn right and drive 1 mile to the course. The clubhouse is on the right side of the street.

Clubhouse attitude sucks for Golf Now users.
For some reason the clubhouse staff resents that you booked through golf now. They literally make you feel like crap. Like somehow you have taken money from their pocket . I talked to one guy about he apologized for the grumpy old man. Good luck if you make it to the course it’s awesome.

Fun course
Thoroughly enjoyed the course. Lots of water, very challenging. Plays much longer than it looks. Green were in great shape as well as the fairways. Great public course.

No Marshall
I love Bay Forest. The problem is the people that play there regularly. They think they own the course and they slow up play tremendously. This was on a Monday, midmorning and they allowed a five some. I personally don"t care, if they allow groups to go around them as they are playing a money game. We ended up with 3 groups on 1 hole and it just got worse. These guys playing in the five some sucked and I sure wanted to let them know that.

Love this course. For a municipal course it’s great. Well kept. They keep improving. Greens hold up well. Can’t beat the price.

Fairways and greens were in great shape. Pace of play was very good. Marshal was keeping the pace and was very informative.

Needs a little tlc.
Bayforest is one of the best test of golf in the Houston area. The course was in good condition with the exception of the greens. The greens are still recovering from aeration and were very inconsistent. The speed of the greens ranged from medium to very slow. Difficult to have a competitive round but adiqute for a fun day on the links. Can't wait for the greens to recover.

Great Value and a Hidden Gem
This is a great course and value for the money. They are trying to keep it in tip top shape. Greens are about 90 percent back from the freeze. I’ll be back!

Great Day
Enjoyed the day as well as the golf! Staff was friendly and attentive. Course was in great shape for all the rain we have had recently. Sand looked in a great shape but I was glad I never had to actually experience hitting out of them! I had a lot of fun and will definitely come back after aerated greens have healed up!

Tough well kept course!
Very nice golf course with tough water lined fairways and greens. Staff was super friendly and never pushy! Lots of rain but greens were fast and clean no complaints. I would suggest mosquito spray, but all in all a great place to chase balls!
