Spring Valley Golf Course

About
Spring Valley Golf Course is a public, 18-hole course that features a rolling, hilly terrain with stately Cottonwood trees that are over 75 years old sprinkled throughout. Designed by Ross Graves, the golf course took over three years to construct, which is understandable considering its elevation of 6400 feet and its hilly terrain. The course is 7,180 yards from its championship tees with a par of 72. Golfers will have to employ their short game for this course. Spring Valley Golf Course's signature hole is the 17th, which is a par-3 that requires a tee shot not only through trees but also over a creek that winds through the course. There is also plenty of wildlife, including rabbits, deer, and antelope, for those who enjoy animals.

Where is the Marshall?
Everything was great until we hit hole #7. We had three groups on the hole. I called the clubhouse. I was told they would "send someone out:. Never saw a marshall and the slow play continued until #18.
Another Southeastern CO Plains Gem...
After travelling to the CO Springs area, the past few years to play, I found the perfect compromise golf course... Elizabeth's Spring Valley Golf Course!
A great deal but be aware... signage finding this course on the Country Roads is NOT easy. I missed the tiny little sign twice and ended up driving around in circles, almost missing my first tee time. Luckily, the road crew working on the corner of CR174 helped me out.
Course-wise: my first round proved awesome. Course was in great late summer condition, lush green fairways, well-kept natural grasslands and valleys. I didn't hit into any sand bunkers so I can't speak to those, thankfully. The valley offers some great views and some challenging tee shots. Not too long but there are a handful of holes that can play long. This course definitely needs some better yardage markers that's for sure. No 150yd stakes anywhere. Just 150 and 100 fairway markers and I didn't see any sprinkler head yardage markers at all so yardage calcs were challenging. I don't use a yardage range finder, so I was off a club on several shots but not a problem otherwise. For a first time played, birdied both Par3's on the back; almost aced Hole#17! Greens were in very good shape, sneaky fast... busy course I'm sure but I wish more players would fix their ball marks. I spent time doing that on almost every green. Overall, a great deal and worth the drive finding this course. I'll get in a few more rounds here this season and look forward to a full set of rounds here next season! Cheers!
Great Course & Views
The course was such a treat to play—beautiful views and even wild turkeys along the way! It’s in great shape, the pace of play was just right, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly. The back 9 brought more of a challenge, with tall trees and an incredible sunset to finish it off. We’ll definitely be back again soon. Thank you!
Eight guys in front of us
We expect a slower start but the two foursomes ahead of us thought they were playing the pga tour. Backed everyone up all day! They couldn’t hit a straight ball so wasn’t sure why they took so long to discuss how they were putting?? I called pro shop and asked if they could send a starter out to tell them to speed it up said she would but didn’t. Found out from staff no one wants to deal with these guys. They left lit cigarette butts at every hole, trash cans unbelievable disrespect for everyone else! Apparently they play there a couple times a week. I wouldn’t play there if I knew they were there.
Overpriced Round
Hard and dry course with weekday 9-hole with cart round for 2 golfers at nearly $100. No senior or student rates for weekday afternoon. I know, it’s Colorado. Too many golfers, not enough courses. Disappointed with this venue.
Very disappointed.
I played this course for many times over the years.
Course not in any good shape. Greens are slow, bunkers under construction (no much sand).
Biggest concerns are the fairways: a lots of dry brown spots, in many places on fairways the soil is not very soft and difficult to hit from concrete-like ground. Pace of play not the best, many walkers golfers, which not improving speed of play. No marshals.
And, course is overpriced.
Nice greens
Course starting to dry out a bit this time of year and playing short but the conditions are very good. Greens are decently fast and roll nice.
Great course, great value
Had a great round. Course was in really good shape. For the money, there isn’t much better!
Beautiful scenery. Fun holes
Enjoyed the course. Had a few challenging holes and a few fun ones. Staff was friendly and informative.
Fun course
Very much enjoyed my round, got the hot deal with a cart included. Fun layout in the middle of rancher country, lots of wildlife and great vibes overall.
Nowhere near worth the price
Course was in fine condition, staff was real nice, but the cost is ridiculous. Unless you get it on some super deal, spend the same money somewhere else and get a much better course value.
Fun Course
Pretty challenging first round on some blind holes. Was a fun course, the started was a good dude. Ranger stopped and checked in on pace of play. Will golf again.
Great course, great round!
Been one of my favorite public courses in CO for many years. Love the open space layout of the course. Was nice to see how engaged the Marshall was in ensuring pace of play kept up and just thanking us for coming out. Will be playing here for many years to come!
