About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Not what it used to be
This used to be my favorite course near me and was always in good condition. Wow, how times have changed. The course is in dire need of water and needs lots of TLC. WAY overpriced for the condition it’s in.
Course is just in bad shape.
This could/should be a nice course. It has a challenging layout, and it plays fair….except for the giant craters in the fairways due to years of neglect, the broken sprinklers that create massive mud pits in the primary rough, and the rock hard tee boxes.
They’ve simply let this course fall apart and nothing short of closing it for several months and a lot of $ invested will turn it around.
It’s off our rotation permanently.

With the extremely hot and dry conditions this summer, the course shows some stress but conditions were still great. Now that cooler and wetter weather is on the way, the course will be back from an A score to an A+ score.

Look Out Below
Please save your money and your time. This course, which I have played many time, has gone down hill. There were cracks in some of the fairways, and many of the roughs, deep and wide enough to swallow a golf ball or maybe even twist an ankle. Greens were extremely slow and rough. Several greens had large bare spots. There is no water on the course for players. I believe this to be a safety hazard. There was no starter. There were no less than 9 players who showed up, all believing they had the same tee time. Our round was just short of 5 hours long. If it had been as hot as it has been in north Texas, we would have left the course at the turn. Very disappointing.

Another fun round at Ridgeview Ranch
All cards on the table, I've loved this course for years. It's a course that is just challenging enough that you can't be on autopilot, but not so tough that you're overthinking every shot. For August in Texas, the course is in great shape, but it was pretty slow out there for a while until a marshal talked to some players taking a more leisurely approach to the game. Hitting a good tee shot is paramount on this course, and for me that means keeping the driver in the bag more often than not.

Good deal/Needs work
Played a late afternoon round, and I’ve always enjoyed this course. Unfortunately some of the greens were eaten up which made for some awkward putts.

Ridgeview Ranch 8/5/23
This course needs major work. All of the greens have bare spots and are in need of being rolled to eliminate the many bumps they have. Very, very few of the putts seem to roll smoothly. These are the worst greens in the north Dallas suburbs. The fairways are in need of water and are baked out in many spots. The rough is all burned out and in many places there is just dirt instead of any kind of vegatation. It is a rip-off for them to charge as much as they do when ownership/management don't care about the condition of the course. I will not be back tthere again unless things change.

Horrible
This was the worst course I've played since moving here from Michigan. This has to be the worst course in North Dallas. I will never play this course again unless it gets a total overhaul. No water on the course at all (100-degree days) greens are unbelievable. The fairways have dirt patches everywhere. I really can't believe they are in business and they have the nerves to charge $72

Choose a different course!
It’s 100 degrees this time of year. There is NO water available anywhere on the course and no cart girl! NO GPS in the carts. Greens were okay, but should be much better this time of year! Golf cart sputtered and had trouble going up hills. Will not be going back until weather gets cooler
