Starcke Park Golf Course

About
Situated on the north bank of the Guadalupe River, Starcke Park Golf Course (formerly known as Max Starcke Park Golf Course) stretches across a scenic landscape of century-old pecan trees. The golf course is easy to walk being of mostly flat terrain. Trees line the fairways, making accurate tee shots top priority in scoring well. There are also strategically placed bunkers throughout the golf course and water hazards coming into play on a few holes for added challenge. Starcke Park Golf Course’s signature hole is the par-4 finishing hole, which requires a tee shot down a narrow fairway bordered by pecan trees on the right and a pond on the left. Considered one of the best municipal golf courses in Texas, Max Starcke Park G.C. also offers a practice and putting green and driving range.

Affordable and in Good condition for drought
Considering we haven't had rain for two months the course was in fair condition. Open layout that allows players to recover from most errant shots. Gotta keep your head on a swivel as a lot of fairways are side by side.
Staff was great and helpful.
Pace of play was the biggest issue with really tight tee times. Supposed to tee off at 8:36 and it was so far behind we didn't tee off till after 9.. With that said pace was better once the round started.
Overall pretty good place to work on some new swing mechanics.
Friendly
This course starts out with the friendly staff then you get to enjoy the course friendly layout. It is challenging and fun for all level of golfers.
Bumpy greens
We Love this course, it's on our must play at least once a month if not more. But past couple of rounds the greens have gotten away from them and are really inconsistent . My putting isn't precise, but having to putt on greens in that shape is not a good experience. Hopefully they will recover to what we're use to at Starcke
Good course but greens suspect
Course was in really good shape except greens has a lot of bad spots. Beautiful parkland style course, not a real interesting layout but some good holes . Huge pecan tree lining fairways and some water. If they can get their greens going it would be a strong 31/2 stars. As is, average.
Great overall course!
My foursome had a great time at Starke. We started on time. Even though we started immediately after a foursome and had one immediately behind us, pace of play was fantastic. It has been a while since we we able to complete a round under 4 hours. Overall the course was in good condition. The fairway grass was a little longer than normal. The greens were in great shape. The layout provides a stress free round. Two thumbs up!
SLOW SLOW SLOW
Close to 5 hour round after late morning start.. Considering this is a Muni that might be expected. With the 5some of locals making the outing a social event with no sense of pace of play for our 4some behind them that was the worst round EVER!!!!!!!
Spring conditions are here
Played friday. Fairways and boxes are starting to green up but the greens are a bit behind. Some dead spots and emerging werds makd greens bumpy and unpredictable. Another month and they will be ironed out as Starke is usually in great shape for the money. Easy course to get around and is great to knock the rust of your game and have some.e fun. We have played the course many time and will be back.
Good Layout
Always enjoy Starcke Park as the layout is challenging. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, the greens were in horrible condition and just not fun to putt. Golf cart died on hole 11 but they quickly brought another.
We were informed that they are holding on to carts a bit longer and it shows in the condition of the equipment.
Early morning round, it was chilly start but weather was great by hole 4-5. Course was in decent shape considering the grass being dormant in January. Enjoyed it
