Bayou Golf Course

About
Joe Finger laid the Bayou out in the 1970s. The links-style course he carved out of the 200 acres along Moses Bayou has plenty of water and elevated tees and greens. The Galveston Bay winds affect this open course, so the 6,665-yard, par 72 plays significantly longer. Every par 5 is over 500 yards, and four of the par 4s are over 400 yards.
On the front, the long par 4 No. 6 is tough because the approach must carry the bayou to a tiny green. And No. 10 involves a lake off the tee and on the approach.
The back is what really tears into the soul of a golfer, though, presenting a 580-yard double dogleg on No. 15 followed just a short while later by the ridiculous 475-yard par 4 17th. This hole is lined on the left by old Moses, and water hazards creep into the fairway. The inevitably long approach goes into an elevated green guarded by water.
Getting there : From Hwy. 146 south, turn right on Loop 197, and head over to Ted Dudley Dr. Turn right, and the course is on the right side of the street.

Fun track
Raise the first hole fairway and maybe the fourth and this track will be the talk of the town
Nice value for the $$
Great staff... very friendly and helpful. Only issue with course is there are too many places in fairways where grass just doesn't grow.
Great course for value price
For the Price you pay it has everything you need. The layout of the holes is actually great! The only complaints I’ll ever have of this course is the front 9 could use some work where the bay comes up onto the fairways and kills the grass. Bulkheads need built up or fairways elevated to combat this whichever is cheaper/effective for management to do. The idea of having water hazards is great but needs to me controlled better. And from holes 8 to 16, strategic fairway bunkers could kick this place way up! Other than that. It’s a technical fun as heck course that deserves to have more revenue for upgrades! I’ll play here with or without any upgrades!
Greens, Fairways, and Pace of play.
Greens need the weeds removed, the fairways have mud holes all in them, and they are extremely patchy. The pace of play is terrible because they don’t Marshall to require walkers to let faster players play through. It took us almost 6hrs to play 1 round.
Course has a ton of potential though.
Overall great experience
First time to play here and look forward to playing again. Course has some repairs in progress on some fairways, but overall the condition of the course was great.
Inexpensive course in the Texas gulf coast area near Galveston
I got a great price to play Bayou Golf Course. I've play here a half a dozen times when vacationingin Galveston. The course has some challenges with their fairways, though bang for the buck if you're in the southeast texas gulf coast area. God bless you!
Two different nines
The front is not great shape. Lot of dirt in fairways. Greens were not bad. The back nine is nice and a lot better shape. Great price ! I will play it again
The worst course I’ve played
I think a parking lot would be better than some of the dried mud caked fairways. I couldn’t make this up. I am 100% disabled vet. I will admit I parked about the with of a cart on the fairway. One of the men in my flight has a prosthetic leg. The marshal drove up onto the mud caked fairway to chastise me for parking on the fairway.
I need to mention the fairways are not now nor will they ever be repaired. They are next to a bayou which has flooded with salt water every time we have had a hurricane. He wouldn’t listen to an explanation. The only thing worse than his demeanor is his rudeness. Although it was only the 2nd hole I quit playing. I drove to to clubhouse to speak to anyone in charge. I was told the marshal is just that way. You could discharge the idiot marshal but they can’t repair the fairways. A place not heaven will freeze before I go back.
P.S. I showed them my paperwork from the VA explaining my disability and the extent. It didn’t influence anyone. The other players in my flight were so discussed they quit too,
1 because 0 isn’t possible
I was willing to put up with three of the fairways made of dried up mud. The cost isn’t terrible but the staff is! I will play any course in Texas except
