Bayou Golf Course
About
Joe Finger laid the Bayou out in the 1970s. The links-style course he carved out of the 200 acres along Moses Bayou has plenty of water and elevated tees and greens. The Galveston Bay winds affect this open course, so the 6,665-yard, par 72 plays significantly longer. Every par 5 is over 500 yards, and four of the par 4s are over 400 yards.
On the front, the long par 4 No. 6 is tough because the approach must carry the bayou to a tiny green. And No. 10 involves a lake off the tee and on the approach.
The back is what really tears into the soul of a golfer, though, presenting a 580-yard double dogleg on No. 15 followed just a short while later by the ridiculous 475-yard par 4 17th. This hole is lined on the left by old Moses, and water hazards creep into the fairway. The inevitably long approach goes into an elevated green guarded by water.
Getting there : From Hwy. 146 south, turn right on Loop 197, and head over to Ted Dudley Dr. Turn right, and the course is on the right side of the street.

Two different nines
The front is not great shape. Lot of dirt in fairways. Greens were not bad. The back nine is nice and a lot better shape. Great price ! I will play it again
The worst course I’ve played
I think a parking lot would be better than some of the dried mud caked fairways. I couldn’t make this up. I am 100% disabled vet. I will admit I parked about the with of a cart on the fairway. One of the men in my flight has a prosthetic leg. The marshal drove up onto the mud caked fairway to chastise me for parking on the fairway.
I need to mention the fairways are not now nor will they ever be repaired. They are next to a bayou which has flooded with salt water every time we have had a hurricane. He wouldn’t listen to an explanation. The only thing worse than his demeanor is his rudeness. Although it was only the 2nd hole I quit playing. I drove to to clubhouse to speak to anyone in charge. I was told the marshal is just that way. You could discharge the idiot marshal but they can’t repair the fairways. A place not heaven will freeze before I go back.
P.S. I showed them my paperwork from the VA explaining my disability and the extent. It didn’t influence anyone. The other players in my flight were so discussed they quit too,
1 because 0 isn’t possible
I was willing to put up with three of the fairways made of dried up mud. The cost isn’t terrible but the staff is! I will play any course in Texas except
Course
The front 9 was in horrible condition some spots completely bare and playing off dirt.
Not Bad
We played on Memorial Day and never had to wait to tee off. Some of the fairways were in bad shape most likely to tidal water damage but it added to the challenge and strategy. I loved that on several of the par 4’s I had to use irons and woods instead of the driver. The greens were in good shape.
It was hot!!!
The breeze is alway's blowing out there which help for the high temperature 's we are having this time of year. The back 9 is hotter than the front due to the wood's blocking the breeze. For the weekend rate this is a very reasonable coarse to play.
Well kept and challenging course
This course has nice lay out. Water to deal with in a number of holes.
Horrible course, great staff
I've played every public course around Houston, and this place is bottom 3. The tee boxes are torn up and uneven/rounded, the fairways are literally non existent, especially on the front 9. The greens are lightning fast and so bumpy they won't hold a line at all. Also, the DRINKING WATER IS BRIGHT YELLOW. They swear it's fine to drink......I'm good. The staff was great tho. I can't believe this place is on the cover of Texas golf monthly currently. Save your time and $ there are way better options
Consistency
They are making slow improvements to the course but as normal there are the few problem holes with poor fairways. Good course for the money and the speed of play was good.
