Bayou Golf Course

About
Joe Finger laid the Bayou out in the 1970s. The links-style course he carved out of the 200 acres along Moses Bayou has plenty of water and elevated tees and greens. The Galveston Bay winds affect this open course, so the 6,665-yard, par 72 plays significantly longer. Every par 5 is over 500 yards, and four of the par 4s are over 400 yards.
On the front, the long par 4 No. 6 is tough because the approach must carry the bayou to a tiny green. And No. 10 involves a lake off the tee and on the approach.
The back is what really tears into the soul of a golfer, though, presenting a 580-yard double dogleg on No. 15 followed just a short while later by the ridiculous 475-yard par 4 17th. This hole is lined on the left by old Moses, and water hazards creep into the fairway. The inevitably long approach goes into an elevated green guarded by water.
Getting there : From Hwy. 146 south, turn right on Loop 197, and head over to Ted Dudley Dr. Turn right, and the course is on the right side of the street.

Cheap for a reason
High tide had the front 9 underwater, limited to only playing back 9 twice. Didn’t tell anyone they had a tournament that day either so when we hit the turn, we found a line of about 6 carts. Water everywhere ended up playing barefoot. Greens were patchy and soaked. Don’t know how this course stays open
Friendly staff and great pace
Thanks for a great time out there

Front 9 closed
Tide came in and flooded the front 9. Had to play the back 9 twice which wreaked havoc on pace of play. Besides that, the course was in good shapes. Greens were rolling great.
Great pace and polite and friendly staff
Only bad thing was we forgot our scorecards clipped on the cart! If they’re somehow saved please let me know and we will pick up. Thanks!

Great back 9
We got paired with a couple who plays the course frequently which made the experience really pleasant.
Greens are undulated leading to a really fun time.
Main issue I have with the course is the front 9 gets flooded somewhat regularly which leads to a very inconsistent fairway and rough but it’s not horrible.
All in all a great course for the price and has a few bathrooms along the way.
Goat and Cow pasture
The highlight of the round was listening to the local bovines mooing. I've played two deplorable courses in 53 years
#1 Ft Brown in Brownsville TX
#2 Bayou City GC Goat and Cow pasture) in Texas City TX
Perfect course for a relaxing morning or afternoon.
This course is a bargain! Couldn’t have been happier with my experience.
Good course for great price
Course is in good condition. Pace of play was slow but that's not always the case. Friendly enough staff, no concession/snack bar which i dont mind bc i can bring my own drinks. But they should tell others that dont already know. Cant beat my $24 hot deal. Even my avg price of closer to $35 is a good deal compared to other courses around me.
Bayou
BYOB, don’t have to take it. Seriously to have a good time. Don’t have to pay a lot to have a good time either.
Horrible experience!!.
First time visiting this course. Staff was super rude, no helpful at all. Mason the employee at the counter had a really bad attitude with my family. The club house doesn’t have anything to eat. No snacks or even water for sale. The course conditions are in very poor shape. Fairways were dry. We paid to play 18 holes and end up just playing 9 because even restrooms were dirty. I would never recommend this golf course to a friend.
Great bang for buck. Greens are rolling fast and it seemed like every pin was on a ridge. Definitely didn’t make it easy out there, but would definitely recommend. Only gripe might be the pin placements and more stocked water stations.

Good deal
The course is in decent shape, the greens do have some issues, and the fairways are lacking some grass but it is winter.
Good local course
This golf course is great value for the money. Everyone is friendly and you get to see some wildlife.
Great price
The course needs work and it’s really the front 9 that has issues. I guess it’s either floods or holds water. It’s very much still playable the grass in spots is non existing so it plays like a hazard I guess. The back 9 no problems and the greens were in good shape. They have good size driving range, 2 nice size putting greens and a chipping green. Pace of play was good. Bring your own drinks for the time being. The snack bar is not open it looks like it’s under construction. Do no beer, soda or eats available.
