Bayou Golf Course
About
Joe Finger laid the Bayou out in the 1970s. The links-style course he carved out of the 200 acres along Moses Bayou has plenty of water and elevated tees and greens. The Galveston Bay winds affect this open course, so the 6,665-yard, par 72 plays significantly longer. Every par 5 is over 500 yards, and four of the par 4s are over 400 yards.
On the front, the long par 4 No. 6 is tough because the approach must carry the bayou to a tiny green. And No. 10 involves a lake off the tee and on the approach.
The back is what really tears into the soul of a golfer, though, presenting a 580-yard double dogleg on No. 15 followed just a short while later by the ridiculous 475-yard par 4 17th. This hole is lined on the left by old Moses, and water hazards creep into the fairway. The inevitably long approach goes into an elevated green guarded by water.
Getting there : From Hwy. 146 south, turn right on Loop 197, and head over to Ted Dudley Dr. Turn right, and the course is on the right side of the street.

Great bang for buck. Greens are rolling fast and it seemed like every pin was on a ridge. Definitely didn’t make it easy out there, but would definitely recommend. Only gripe might be the pin placements and more stocked water stations.
Good deal
The course is in decent shape, the greens do have some issues, and the fairways are lacking some grass but it is winter.
Good local course
This golf course is great value for the money. Everyone is friendly and you get to see some wildlife.
Great price
The course needs work and it’s really the front 9 that has issues. I guess it’s either floods or holds water. It’s very much still playable the grass in spots is non existing so it plays like a hazard I guess. The back 9 no problems and the greens were in good shape. They have good size driving range, 2 nice size putting greens and a chipping green. Pace of play was good. Bring your own drinks for the time being. The snack bar is not open it looks like it’s under construction. Do no beer, soda or eats available.
Green Issues
I know it"s a bad time of the year, but the greens are going to need some immediate attention. I think it is poana grass that starts growing instead of the normal grass. It causes the ball to hop like a bunny towards the hole. The usual greens are moderately fast but true.

wonderful croud of golfers. Staff less so. they seem to have issues with the starter and marshall
Coastal golf
Fun track, challenging always windy. Fairways decent but bumpy. Green's in good shape. Bunkers in bad shape. Noticeable improvements, re-paved cart paths. Rough decent, weeds under control and mowed. Good value for the money.
Don't play here
Course was in rough condition, due to heavy rain. Lots of winter kill areas that took up most of some fairways. Rude players jumped in front of us on 10, then proceeded to play slowly. No on course marshal.
