About
Lyman Orchards is a popular Connecticut destination most known for the nearly 100 varieties of pick-your-own fruit but it also offers two championship 18-hole golf courses and a nine-hole course. One of the longer courses was designed by Gary Player and the other by Robert Trent Jones. Lyman Orchards' Player Course is a seemingly mild 6,600 yards from the tips but don't let the yardage fool you, this layout is a tough but fair test. There are over 30 bunkers strategically placed along the small greens and deciduous trees and beautiful white pines line the fairways. Routed through the orchards across gently rolling hills, the golf course is as scenic as it is challenging. The terrain provides the course with plenty of ups and downs, as well as great views, especially on the 11th and 13th holes.

Rude and Sarcastic
I booked online and when I arrived to check in the price wasn’t $50 for 18 holes with a cart. Instead it was now $55 for 18 with a cart. But that isn’t why I’m not going to play there again. The person who waited on me was rude and very sarcastic.
First Time Great Time
Really enjoyable. Lot of blind shots on the front nine which got a little uncomfotable for not knowing the course. I'm sure it's not as bad once you play a few times. Could have spread those out a little bit. They all seemed to fall on the front or early on the back. Conditions were great. GPS on cart very nice. Could even order lunch on it. Food was good too. Beautiful views. Drove 45 minutes one way to play but worth it. Will be back..

Tees in poor shape
Tees in bad shape greens were aerated and top dressed so a bit difficult to judge speed rest of course in nice shape.went off as a twosome early and buzzed right through

Great Fall Day on Player course
Great weather. Course in fine shape even with punched greens. Nice deal on course app. Paired up with friendly players. Overall a good experience.

Where did the tee boxes go?
(JONES COURSE)
Missing tee boxes. Where did they go? A couple of them were good.. Other than that greens where fast and great, just how I like them. Fairways were good. Some places grass was very long. I love the course, better tee boxes would make this place a beaut.

Tee boxes from white tees were very spotty.
White tee boxes need some work on the Player course. Many bare spots and ripped up grass.
Thank you for playing and thank you for the review. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you! The drought was tough on our tee boxes for sure, but we've seen a lot of recovery from all of the seed put down. Should be good as new in time for spring!
Challenging Front Nine
An interesting course layout with significant elevation changes, especially in the front 9. The course rewards accuracy with relatively small greens to target, with many doglegs where it pays to first go see where the pin is located. Definitely worth while to take the cart, since not only is it hilly, but distances between holes can be as much as 1/2 mile.
NEED A Ranger
Course in good condition and the greens are fairly fast as they are rock hard.Hard to hold the green on approach shots.
Pace of play was very slow and waited on just about every hole.This is a very nice place to play golf but they badly need a ranger to stop people hitting 2 or 3 balls off just about every tee.
Golf carts have GPS which is nice and along with the layout and yardage informed you how far off the pace your playing but unless the course take notice the pace of play will not improve.
Good service at the restaurant and we sat outside enjoying the food ,cold beer and the view after our round.
The course was dry
Tee boxes were dirt, the green side bunker on # 10 had the concrete base showing. This has been the worst I’ve ever seen this course!!! $75 way too much
NEED A RANGER Rock hard greens
Nice track but very slow. Foursoe ahead must have hit an average of 7 ball off every hole.No Ranger all day and carts inform you. How far you are off pace..Carts are new but a real pain you know where if you don't. stay on the car path .Greens are hard as rocks and near impossible to hit and. Keep on the putting surface. This place needs some rain as good drives don't even hold the fairways.. restaurant staff is nice probably won't return until after they get some rain.
Nice layout .Greens running quicker than usual . Tee boxes are bad and some cart paths need some work. Thanks for the apple
