Turkeyfoot Lake Golf Links - Middle 9

I am 67 years old and have been playing golf for over 50 years. This was the first time in my life that I have ever encountered 5 groups waiting on one tee for a hole that was not the first hole on a course. Pace of play was so slow, groups were quitting and going home (mine included). When I approached the starter with my concern, he said that he had received several calls from golfers and spoke to the offending parties 3 times. He said he couldn't control the age and ability of the golfers on the course. When I asked about hiring a ranger to police the slow play, his response was that would cost too much. When I told him that he just lost 3 customers, he could have cared less. He responded with, "Does it look like we're hurting for customers?" It was that comment and his poor attitude that prompted me to write this honest review. It took us 2 hours and 45 minutes to play the "fast nine" with our group waiting on every hole. After playing three holes on the back nine in one hour and ten minutes and seeing the five groups waiting and standing on the tee ahead of us, our group simply quit. Six hours is much too long to play one round of golf.

The track is really nicely laid out but tee boxes are unusual, maybe 2 sets of tees, maybe 4.

The greens are just gorgeous but some of them have extreme slopes for "normal" golfers, they are very fast. If you are above the hole, you either 1 putt or 4 putt.

Other than that, the views on the lake course are terrific and there is usually a nice breeze so it's a great experience.

Had 9 holes booked on the water nine for two days. Show up for my tee time with my playing partners and the lady at the front desk says I don’t have a tee time because it shouldn’t have been booked because there was a league that day, despite me getting a confirmation email. After 15 minutes, they finally let us play on their front nine instead of the water nine. We ended up having to wait several minutes at each tee box because of a foursome in front of us, and when we got to the 9th hole, we were harassed by another player from 2 holes away and the ranger for “holding up the whole course”(again we waited in each tee box for several minutes for the group in front of us). Never have had such poor experience on a golf course like I had here.

Overall the course was in great shape. I played the long 9 for my front 9, then played the medium 9. My only complaint is that the par 4's were too short in my opinion. Next time I would like to play the water 9 in order to give a more accurate review.

I played here for the first time and played with a random group of two and had a great time. The course was in great shape even with all of the rain and the pace of play was great – didn’t have to wait on a single shot

I’ve driven by this course for most of my adult life but never took the opportunity to play it. My son suggested we try it and so happy we did. Played the Water 9 and really enjoyed the challenge and beauty of the course. We WILL be back. Now I have a great memory every time I drive by during my work week.

Beautiful course , difficulty of the first 18 (27hole course) ramped up as we went on. Extremely busy, but starter kept everyone spaced out and it didn't take too long for a crazy busy Sunday morning . Highly recommend this place , top notch . Staff were incredibly friendly which is always a big deal to me.

Course great shape, pace of play was slow, likely because tee boxes next to greens, short course didn’t help the pace of play either.
