A hidden gem
Capon Springs Golf Course is a private golf course owned and operated by Capon Springs and Farms in West Virginia. The course is open to overnight guests, and selectively to daytime guests in the afternoons.
The course is in the best shape I've seen, and I visit Capon Springs annually each July. The tee boxes are a touch long, but the grass isn't long enough to hinder your tee shots. The fairways are in great shape, and the greens are probably the best I've played on all summer.
In addition to being in great shape, the Capon Springs Golf Course is great for beginners. Capon Springs stocks their own clubs (old clubs donated by guests) that beginners can use. The course is also set in a rolling mountain valley so you'll see plenty of wildlife, especially when playing twilight golf.
