Eighteen Hole at Holiday Island Country Club

The staff was all extremely friendly and pace of play was great…….but course needs LOTS of love. Greene are excellent and aprons and fringes were about 75% good condition. The bunkers were horrible, filled with rocks about half dollar sized. The tee boxes were completely beat up and not level. The course felt like it was built in people’s back yards. There are houses literally 10 feet off the fairways with netting up over the decks………not a good look or feel. It’s been extremely dry out so the burnt up grass was expected, but there were huge patches all over the course that was bare, packed dirt and rock; there hadn’t been grass in these spots for a long time.

The pictures posted on here are extremely misleading. I’ve played golf all over the US, and this course is most definitely in the bottom 3 - 4 that I’ve played in my 25+ years playing. I live in St Louis and my wife and I came to stay at a near by Airbnb for a birthday getaway and we were very excited to play this course (from the pictures on Golfnow) and VERY disappointed when we saw what we got.

The conditions were treacherous besides the greens being decent, but slow. I arrived and was immediately told there was no way I would be teeing off at my assigned time of 1240. There was a ladies tournament and they were all over the course, meaning they were not monitored and put in place to keep pace of play for their 2 person scramble. I had a window to go between the groups, but was not allowed to and after 30 mins, the last two groups came through which I followed out at 1pm. It then took them 90 mins to play 5 holes , where they finished on hole 6, before I was able to go around them. The course didn't have a clue of how to run a golf course or a tournament, and they stated they have these golf association events 4-5 days a week, so good luck with your tee time being on time or playing in a timely manner.

The fairways are very short for most of the spring due to nateral watering and bermuda being the prominent grass but the greens are well taken care of. Fun but challenging course that rewards well placed fairway shots from the tee.

Course is a bit sparse this time of yr. Looks like they need rain. All tee boxes were combined I assume to work on boxes… fairways were 90 degree due also to maintenance. Greens were decent and rolled well except for #3 that looked like to has some disease issues.

Their prices have increased since last yr and without a golf now discount and applying points probly would not feel justified paying the $53 advertised price given course conditions right now.

The course was in decent shape. Pace was very slow due to cart path only. Could not see a reason for cart path only. Course was not wet, and did not look to be having any work done. Restaurant did not appear to be open. Pro shop staff was very nice and helpful.
