Repairs
Course was damaged by animals and greens too, crews working on getting it back in shape! Staff is always excellent,
Not many choices in Las Cruces
Unless you can get on a private course in Las Cruces you can’t expect much. The course layout is the best thing about the course otherwise it is pretty rough. The bunkers pretty much have no sand and as a result we played a free drop out of green side bunkers. The fairways had many bare spots. With a little TLC including more sand in the bunkers, this could be a good public course. As a plus, the staff is very friendly and helpful.
One of New Mexico’s Best Golf Courses is Now An Unplayable Dump
It’s very sad that this beautiful layout has now been left to rot. Although I know there have been major personnel changes, that’s not an excuse for the condition this course is in. According to many of the golfers I talked to, and the Staff, the Pro is rarely there, and there is no Superintendent. Charging $60-80 to play here is just gross. Stay away!
This course needs to fix so many things starting with the price.
Overall it’s a decent course but you’re overpaying for what you get. Since we first teed off at 5:30 we were told that carts had to be in at 7. If they would’ve told us that while checking in I would’ve just left. The ranger was always there bothering us and not letting us play at our pace. Totally not worth the amount that we payed to be rushed.
Great day!
The course was beautiful. Had a super slow group in front. Marshal spoke to them on hole 6. No change. After 2.5 hours still hadn’t finished hole 8. We blew by them and skipped 9. Rest of play was smooth. No wait. We had a foursome.
Best Golf course in Las Cruces
Great layout. Fantastic fairways with lush green fescue grass. Greens are bent, fair but can have a sneaky break, decent pin placements. Stay out the numerous sand traps on each hole. They have plans on redoing each sand trap but currently are playable but need a deep raking and cultivating
Course conditions were very very poor for Red Hawk standards. Bunkers were terrible, some were flooded (with no rain). Course was extremely wet from over watering with a lot of barren spots on the fairways. A lot of weeds around the cart paths and all the tee boxes were inconsistent. These are not the course conditions that I am accustomed to at Red Hawk. It is definitely not worth the 80+ fee they are asking for on the weekends. If you play, look for a hot deal or wait till twilight. Only bright spot is that all the greens were in absolutely pristine condition.
Overall a really great round.
Only 2 areas that I felt the course was lacking. The pace was moderate. Some groups were allowed to slow down play, while others that were keeping pace were asked to keep pace. The other was the condition of the sand traps. Early in the day they were managable, but by the time the sun was hottest, the traps felt like hardened concrete. (Not much you can do being out in the desert, so that's a gimmie). Overall I really enjoyed everything else and look forward to making my way back to Red Hawk.
Great course will be going back
Great course will be going back
Hard sand traps but that’s the only flaw
Very nice course
Not her best face.
I've played Red Hawk many times and she never disappoints, but with that said I've come to certain expectations. This time she did not meet those: course boundaries were closed in with extremely high and over grown bushes, grasses and what ever else is in that desert. Actually thought it could of been even more dangerous for snake bites. Granted we all know that in this area there is a great presence of snakes, however Red Hawk has never been this overgrown. Even the sand traps were over grown with vegetation. The course is already the hardest course in the area, but with these conditions I feel it's unfairly tougher!
Squeezed us in even though I made the mistake!
I mistakenly made the tee times for Sunday. We showed up on Saturday. They squeezed us in. And they were polite about it. Very friendly staff!
Red hawk
Course is in great shape! Best I’ve seen it since it has opened!
Best course in southern New Mexico and texas
Course is in great shape, constantly working on areas that need attention. Greens rolling and looking good! I if people would just fix a ball mark or two, rough is brutal! Stay in the fairway hahahaha!
