Let’s get it together
I golf here a lot! I just wish they would put more money into the actual track instead if the aesthetics. T boxes uneven they have been for years, the greens are near perfect! The fairways are full of crab grass in the spring, look out for alot of down lies, I would say that keeping the ball in the fairway is a premium. On some holes it is, but on others it’s a detriment due in part to the crab grass. They have been working ln the bunkers which I am happy about as I am an above average bunkers player. More sand is being added. Pace of play can be slower than molasses in winter on weekends ⭐️ there. Being that this is my home track I would like to see more concentrated efforts on fixing the things that golfers care about on the whole! Pun intended!
First time playing this course. They were sending people off of hole 10 and hole 1at the same time which led to a disaster by the turn. Extremely slow pace of play, the first 6 holes took 2 hours. The starter was sending off groups of 5, when asked why he had an attitude like I was in the wrong for even asking. Course overall was challenging especially with a constant 20 mph wind. Narrow fairways, small greens, ridiculous pin placements. Greens were lightning fast and most sloped from back to front, very easy to putt off the green. Fairways and rough were pretty spotty, not a lot of grass. Tee boxes were all sloped and no grass. Bunkers were either hard pan or mud. Glad we tried this course, but we wont back. Place was a dump.

Golden Era Golf in Wilmington
Porkys is one of my favorite courses in the area. Bang for buck it’s hard to beat. There is nothing flashy, but the 100 year history makes you feel like you’re playing golf at a place that has seen the game change. The straightforward layout but exciting greens are the recipe for a great golf course.
Where is a ranger?
14 holes in, 4 hrs and 15 minutes is unacceptable pace of play. Foursomes in front of us were so slow and held up 3 groups behind waiting every hole from start. No RANGER to be found to make sure these bunch of no golf adequate players moving along so we ended up quitting after 14 holes. 5 hours plus in my estimation if we played 18 holes. This course should not play more than 4 hrs.
Too Many Beginners Playing
I booked as a single and was paired with another twosome. Nice guys, but the younger one was brand new to the sport and should have gone to the driving range instead of playing on a real golf course. His partner was better but was still not very good. The foursome in front of us had a Dad and his two teenagers that were hitting the ball all over the place. Mid-week and the pace was abysmal. Third time playing the course and it will definitely be my last time. It is a shame because it is relatively close by and relatively inexpensive.
It irks me that it is one of the 3 nearby courses in Delaware that do NOT accept any of the Golf Now Discounts on Hot Deals be it the weekly percentage off codes nor the Reward Promo Codes.
The Pro Shop guy was extremely friendly and professional.
Good relaxing course
Ed Oliver is a good course overall. Pretty straight forward with not a lot of elevation changes per hole, but it’s a fun relaxing course to play that won’t frustrate you if you’re having a less than stellar round.
Great value
I d played here before, I really enjoy it. Nice conditions very nice greens. Some spots are narrow, but it’s very nice.
Left wanting more
I play this course a few times a year. For having a very seasonable Fall. The course conditions weren't the best. As always, the greens were in great shape, which they usually are. The fairways were decent and the tee boxes were just OK. A lot of brown patches and dirt areas on tee boxes. I've always liked this course and the layout. Hoping it gets to heal through the spring time.
Left early
Pace was extremely slow on a weekday around 1:35pm start. First time playing there, could not see any Marshall to keep pace. Got frustrated and left with 4 holes to play. The course is in good condition tho.
Sand Traps???
All Bunkers need to be fixed. How the course management don’t see that there’re more gravel than sand in the bunker!!!
Poor conditions
This course needs a lot of work. Paid $47 for 18 which nowadays is cheap. However, 50% of the time the ball was unhittable from its lay. Greens were sanded (it’s October!) and the fairways were punched (fairways!!). C’mon man!
Staff are really nice and layout isn’t bad. Good potential just needs better maintenance.
