would play again
Need a ranger on course...some golfers pace of play really slow.
Good course for beginners!
Good course for beginners only. No challenge for a intermediate player . You need 4 clubs to play this including putter. You can see every flag from the tee. Fairways hard as your head. . Greens fair. Would only play again if 20 dollars or under for 18 with cart .
Super greens
you can always turn the ball over in a bad spot of fairway but there's no relief for bad greens. Excellent greens make this course. Play early pace of play slows later in the day
Address on Golf now
When I hit get directions the address was incorrect pulling from this field.
Fun to Play
I went eye with my father on Father's day, so they were inevitably backed up. Regardless, we were able to hit a few practice balls for free while we were waiting. The course itself is pretty well maintained. The fairways were fairly narrow, so we hit into the neighboring fairway a couple of times. The greens were fast, and moderately difficult. Overall, this course was enjoyable.
A Hidden jewel of a course
Ed Oliver's is a wondeful course. Hidden from the beaten track, but just outside of the city of Wilmington, it's located on the edge of some very high priced property. I warmed up on a very nice, well maintained, REAL GRASS driving range. It has mats, but they were not in use. Next to the range is a very nice practice putting green with about 9 holes to shoot at for various rolls and distances. All the holes on the course present different challenges that will keep you on your toes. Although it has only one par 5, the other par 4's are long and very challenging for a good golfer. If you stray from the fairway trees or havy rough will penalize you making a recovery shot difficult at best. The pace of play was excellent at 11:30am. and I had no hold ups the entire morning. The Tee box's do show some broken tee's, but they were level and well grassed. The fairways, all of them do have some challenges. They were groomed well with nice short grass to make nice tight lie shots, but they do tend to have dips in them, I guess for water run off. This can make standing and addressing the ball a problem with some shots. The greens a small and very challenging. You must have an accurate shot on the flag or you will end up in some serious thick rough grass surrounding the greens. Making PAR is lucky if you end up in this stuff even if your 5 foot from the fringe of the green! Overall, it is a very enjoyable course to play. The other golfers were friendly and showed good golf manners too. The I had lunch in the club house and had a very relaxed lunch. I sat outside at tables under cover enjoying the other golfers Teeing off on the #1 and #10 holes while taking in the fine weather today. I will go back again because this hidden jewel is fun and a challenge too!
Great Value - Great Staff
Played Ed Oliver's for the first time in years. I was greeted by a cart attendent as soon as I arrived and he helped get my bags and sent me to the shop. The pro was great! When I told him it was my first time in a while, he recalled the cart attendent I got a 1 on 1 tour of the property.
Greens were much better than I remembered them being - quick, true, and receptive. Excellent greens compared to much more expensive courses in the area. The fairways were mostly good, with a few spots that clearly took the winter hard.
I was paired with a two-some and we finished our round in just under 4 hours. Great experience overall. I'll be back
If you're just looking to get out for a round this is your course
They've made improvements in recent years, the course is just so beat up. The fairways are really bad. The staff is great and it's really cheap so that's nice! I'll be back to work on my game
What cost more,a pack of smokes or
As incredible as it sounds a pack of smokes would have cost more than a round of golf using golf now on Easter Sunday afternoon. Three of us got out for less than $20 total. As for the course itself there are enough interesting holes to make it worth the trip. Nothing wrong with the tees or greens and the staff didn't blink when they rung me up and had to give me 8 bucks back from the 20 I gave them, we all had a good laugh. What a country!
A fun little course for the non scratch golfer.
Ed Oliver is a fun place to play a relaxed game of golf. The course is not the most dificult one you will ever see, and at times it is not in the best of condition, but for the price it is a great bargain and fun to play.
Bad time management.
They can't seem to get everyone off of the front 9. The last 3 times I've been there, I've had a slow 4some put in front of me on the 10th. Not what you expect after getting the first tee time.
Fairways are horrible, but greens were ok.
Shop staff doesn't pay attention
Not only was there no one in the shop when I arrived, when we made the turn, a random foursome was teeing off #10 out of nowhere. As a group of two having to play directly behind them on an already packed course, we were a bit confused. This group also went out in 3 carts...clearly the shop staff doesn't care what is going on. Glad I got a discounted rate, but still feel like I paid too much. Course conditions were definitely not worth the regular rates...fairways are gone and the greens are not consistent.
Course management company is working hard to improve the course.
Porky Oliver is a nice course for walking and for working on your game.
Fairways are gone
I've played this course a few times and the guys I was playing with have played it for years. The fairways were the worst they have ever seen them. I don't know what happened from earlier in the year till now, but there is little to no reward for hitting the fairway. Greens were in good shape, bunkers were OK.
this is my home course
Some fairways are a little burned out on some holes. Greens are maintained well, staff are helpful, bar and other amenities are great. Overall, a solid course for your buck!
Fairways needed help.
Greens are nice, staff is super friendly, book with course layout is the nicest i havve seen.
The Fairways are a disgrace
The fairways at this course are a disgrace and need to be renovated. Pace of play is also extremely slow. I would much rather spend the extra $15-$20 to play somewhere else in the future and do not plan on EVER playing here again until the fairways actually have grass!!
If anyone on here works for Ed Oliver's and reads this, I'm sorry you should be embarrassed because a golfer should be rewarded after a good tee shot by shooting on well maintained, short grass, not on dirt and divots which just makes the ball shoot up in the air.
Do not waste your time and money here.
Slow greens and pace of play.
For the money course was in good shape. greens were grown out and recently aerated. should get better in the fall. Pace of play was too slow. There was one small group. I liked the layout and the challenge.
