The usual
Fairways could have been better but the pace of play and greens were good.
Great View of the Potomac with a side of Golf! (Not worth it)
Overall: 3/10
-Blue Course 18 Holes. Played 13.
-I was in a two man group with a cart.
Course condition: 4/10
-Course needs more signage designating which hole you are at, directions, easy to get lost.
-Great Views of the Potomac but the only good thing about the course was the greens.
-Cart Paths are a serious hazard.
Pace of Play:
-Had an Afternoon Tee time, marshall started us late which hindered our ability to play a full round.
-Waited on each hole for 10/15 minutes just to tee off.
-We had multiple groups of four in carts that were playing holes twice to pass the time, in front of them were multiple of players electing to walk the course ended up taking us 2.5-3 hours to finish 9 holes
-There is no course management, Marshall's will not speed anything up as they are no where to be found.
Range:
-Machines did not work waited for 35/40 minutes to try and have a warmup session but couldn’t.
Staff:
-Poor service, tried to seek out help a few times and when we did we were given unhelpful answers or “I dont know”.
-played 9 holes in 2.5-3 hours. Only got to play 13 holes due to the poor pace of play and we went to talk about what I have listed above in this review the responses from staff were “so what” “thats just the way it goes”.
Wouldn’t recommend this place.
Excellent for Beginners
The Blue Course is the best maintained of the 3 East Potomac courses in my opinion. The greens are spotty and the fairway isn’t the best quality grass but there aren’t dirt patches or holes and unkept rough like many other courses at this price point. Most holes are very straight with not much variation but that is great for a beginner like myself. Shot a career best 83 when I don’t always break 90, this course will definitely give you a confidence boost. Gorgeous scenery and a pleasant constant breeze with ample parking make this course an absolute must for NoVA/DC residents!
Had a great time!!!
Overall its a good course. Decent dinning facility and pro shop to get you going. The driving range needs new hitting matts to practice on. The practice putting green is decent. The course greens at the moment are not bad but I've seen better. I enjoyed playing this course and easy to say I'll be back to play another round!
Decent
Flat layout in a cool location. A little over priced for what you get but not bad for a one time play.
Final round of the Year
The course was a little muddy with puddles on the course. No carts allowed so you had to walk. Might have been best to close to course to help with overall conditions. But overall a good round. I love this place. It’s home!
You get what you pay for
This is actually a decent course. Flat easy walkable layout. Almost impossible to lose your golf ball. For the money, it’s hard to complain. The 3 cons about this course are pace of play is pretty bad, the course does not drain well after rain storms and during the winter, the geese treat this course as their personal port-o-potty so every other step you take your walking in their bio-waste. If you play it late in the spring and summer time that last part is usually not an issue.

Slow
I play this course regularly.
Pros
- Affordable
- Easy
- No water
Cons
- There is never a Marshall.
- The pace of play is never under 5 hours.
- No one knows etiquette… no one repairs balls marks; no one picks up after *triple par*
- Sand traps are unhitable.
Solid but not perfect
It really depends on what time of year you go. But overall East Potomac Blue is actually a very fun course and is a good challenge for beginner to intermediate level golfers. There’s a good mix of easy holes and a few pretty long difficult holes as well. Pretty much the best you will get about 30 minutes around the DC area.
A MUST PLAY in DMV Area ! ! !
East Potomac Golf Links sits right on the Potomac River on Hains Point Island & is the home of the nation's first Cherry Blossoms! The scenery & vibes you experience itself is worth the trip; You combine that with a round of either 9 or 18 holes and wow what a day it was! A lot to do/see surrounding the course so make sure you book an early tee time!!
A little windy b/c of the river, however there are surprisingly enough trees to mellow the conditions out. The course is relatively easy & flat, layout is good, fairways can be tricky due to the Bermuda Grass, & the greens (Bent Grass) are pretty true/on slow side runs at about 7-8.5. Lastly, Its a public course so there's that...Test yourself & see if you can break 80!
***Make sure to check out "Drop Zone Golf" its pretty much golf store in a shack. Scott the owner runs a "custom shop", fitting, repairs, stamping, etc. I got my Scotty Cameron weights professionally painted (will upload picture). Tell him RupertPumkin referred you for special discounts!***
Fantastic views of DC. Horrible cart paths
I will say that the views of DC are fantastic on this strip of land in the Potomac. Seeing sights like the Washington Monument from a bunch of holes was cool. Place was jam packed and it took us over five hours to play. A recommendation is to book your tee time as soon as the seven-day window to do so opens as they go fast.
The course itself is in adequate shape. The tees were alright, while the fairways looked nice from a distance but were actually pretty patchy in many spots. Greens were good with very subtle breaks in them. Lots of straight holes and hardly any elevation changes.
However, it has one of one of the worst “cart paths” I can ever remember. Huge pot holes in the crummy pathways that hurt our backs a couple of times. We tried to avoid them but there are so many of them. In addition, our cart was filthy dirty and didn’t look like it had been cleaned in a long time. Plus, it was very difficult to drive and either stalled or jumped. I would suggest walking instead of riding!
I’m glad I played it once but not sure I necessarily see myself going back, no matter how cool the views are from the course. But for sure a course to play if in DC.
