Plum Creek Golf & Country Club
About
Legendary golf architects Pete Dye and Perry Dye designed the 18-hole, private course at Plum Creek Golf and Country Club, located in Castle Rock. Opened in 1984, the golf course features 7,044 yards of golf from its championship tees, playing to a par of 72. Dye included various different challenges in this golf course, causing some locals to say that it possesses some of the most difficult holes in the state. The hilly terrain of the well-bunkered course causes many uneven lies. Water hazards also come into play on some holes. Plum Creek Golf and Country Club boasts beautiful views of Castle Rock and the Rockies.

The course came thru the winter in great shape..
I was surprised at how good the course was after the winter.
The greens rolled smooth and true as in mid summers form.
The staff were very friendly and when I asked about the course they were able to give me a couple of tips on how to play the course which saved me a couple of strokes.
Tim and the staff are first class.
I will be back...
Totally took me by surprise
Even though it's in the middle of February, the course is in great shape! Tom was very informative and very personable and gave me a few pointers since I had never played the course before. Wildlife abounds as do many things they leave behind, but that is to be expected.
If you don't know the course, it can give you all kinds of surprises. With my android app and my Bushnell, I felt pretty good about know what was over the knoll or around the corner...or both! Hole number 7 is a Par 3 and is going to be an absolute stunner this season. Minimal places to miss on this hole, but can't wait to get back to it.
Will be back when everything isn't frozen!
Scenic & challenging with good greens.
I played ten rounds here in six days, walking most of the rounds. Pro-shop staff were very friendly and accommodating. They even got me an old pull cart, so I could walk and not have to carry my bag. Course was very dry because of a drought, so the maintenance crew had to water some of the fairways occasionally. Some of the rough was "crunchy" because of lack of water. Very nice greens, which is the most important feature to me. The only negative was that about half the rounds took 4.75 to 5 hours to play because it was crowded - unless I was one of the first ones off in the morning. Wish they had a few push carts available for walkers, but a great course to play.
A great course with a unique way of dealing with Winter.
Over the winter, Plum Creek has an inovative way of dealing with the shorter days and harsher conditions. Every day is a Shotgun Start!
Everybody gets a hole assignment and starts at 10:00a.m. Gives the day a fun way to start and the staff can go home earlier without dealing with straglers wandering in all afternoon. At a great low price and a cart, you can't beat it. And the 19th hole ends it all with super friendly staff and a party feeling. Way to go Plum Creek CC!
This is a challenging course that has a great layout.
The course is in surprisingly good condition for December and the greens are extremely well maintained. The layout is challenging but is not "gimmicky" with straightforward holes that reward good shots. And, the views are pretty spectacular too.
Winter Golf
Plum Creek has had some financial difficulties and new faces appeared this golf season. They have made every effort and have succeeded in providing a welcoming experience on the course and it's amenities. As a Dye design the course isn't a beginner track and was set for the more advanced player and if played to the design goals is a good golf experience and a fun course for the average and better handicapper. It is winter here but the greens are holding well and the fairways are acceptable. A good thing, the rough has died off so those of us with errant shots can find the occasional ball.
The course is difficult but fun
The course is very well laid out and challenging, but it seems to bring out the best in me. Great staff. I definitely will play many more times.
Great track for the price
This is a great course for the money. The greens are always fast and pretty well maintained, which is as important as anything when choosing a course to play. The layout is challenging with good bunkering and a water coming into play on the closing three holes (well, I guess it's 7,8,9 now). The pro shop's a little dated, but I go for the course not the food or decor.
A really fun course with a good mix of holes - would definitely recommend.
Staff was attentive, and helpful w/regards to the green conditions, great day and played into the wind on the finishing holes which made interesting
See review summary please, as it describes it better
Challenging course
Plum Creek is a well maintained challenging course for the average player.
Greens and fairways are great, but there is work to be done.
I enjoyed playing this course, but you can really sense why it went public. They aren't taking care of the roads or cart paths on the property and the clubhouse is very outdated and smells musty. What a shame. This probably used to be a great facility.
Overlooked, Awesome course
People forget that this wsa aTPC course. Once you tee off it doesn't take long to remember. Tucked into a Castle Rock neighborhood, this course has a little of everything. The front 9 (which is now the finishing holes) is the scoring side with some reachable par 5's and two nasty par 3's with roller coaster, super fast greens. The back 9 is fun with a down hill par 3 that you can tell Dye designed. 16-18 are reminiscent of Sawgrass in Florida, but doesn't cost hundreds to play. It isn't in the shape it used to be, but for the money and the layout it is worth every penny.
Good option on Southside
The course is in good shape and is enjoyable. Most weekends we have had to wait due to slow play. Weekdays play is better and the staff is helpful and friendly.
This is a good option on the southside.
Country club-like feel - tough challenge!
Hadn't seen this course in nearly 20 years, but it was great to see it again. Beautiful Dye design that has aged well and is very challenging. Some fairway restrictions and many areas where you can't really get to your ball conveniently with cart to play to green and mush uphill/downhill walking from and to cart. Fast greens that put true, but some player neglect to repair ball marks on greens. A serious challenge from player appropriate tees.
Good for the money - needs attention to minor details
Great course & friendly staff. Need attention to minor details - dirty carts, no free tees, no towels, should allow carts in the lot to pick-up and return clubs to vehicles. People would pay more for a more upscale experience with improvements to these minor details.
Not for the meek
This is a tough course especially with so many blind shots both from the tees and enroute to the green. Most of the greens have severe undulations. I had a cart but walked a lot since 8 of the 18 holes were "cart path only". Didn't see the need for that; there were no severely worn or wet areas. I don't plan to return.
Good layout
Nice Golf Course. Pete Dye layout is challenging but fair for the most part. However, the course isn't marked real well. Need updated tee signs, ball wash, pin placement information, and if the scorecard had some useful information it would be helpful. The clubhouse seems a little run down and overall like a bit of a ghost town. Views on this course are spectacular and greens fee deals are a reason I'll play here a couple times a year.
NICE COURSE
WELL WORTH THE MONEY. Would play again. Would like to play the 3rd nine as well
Good Course - Needs some work
I really enjoy playing this course. Challenging but fair. I am an average golfer so I like the challenge without the feeling that I could never make a birdie. The grounds do need some attention and repair. Cement cracking on cart paths, some ground in poor shape & clubhouse is looking a bit run down. I don't like the fact that you can't take the cart on 8 of the 18 fairways (4 par 3's and 4 additional holes). If I wanted to walk, I'd walk. Overall, when you can get a good deal on Golf Now, take it. Otherwise I think $75 on weekends is a bit steep for this course.
