Partial Refund?
Booked on GN for a 3:45 pm tee time. At 7:15 PM the course announced that they are closing and all carts needed to be returned. We only got to play 12 holes and it was light out still. The pace was slow, which it's not the end of the world, but there was no way that we would have been able to get a full round in 3.5 hours in a foursome with other players on the course.
Cart path only!
As we got our reservation on line we were unable to get any feedback on conditions. My wife and I are in our 60's
and aren't in shape to walk a course at over 8500 feet altitude (we are visiting from the flatlands). The course was cart path only and our games normally stray from the vicinity of the cart path! The front nine had a lot of long carries and somewhat blind shots. Neither of us cared for the front nine. The back nine had a completely different feel to it and we enjoyed it except for the cart path only aspect.

Hi jbuttermore! Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back!
A golf course that always shines!
Having played at Shining Mountain several times now, it has quickly become a favorite place to meet fellow golfers & enjoy that breath of fresh air & mountain scenery not often experienced at local golf courses near the Colorado Springs area. A broad range of fairways with a good mix of pars, challenges even the best of golfers as you play the palette
of each hole. Always the friendliest of staff members are at your disposal to make your golf day a memorable one that shines among the best of those you have ever played.

u314159945059, thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Shining Mountain Golf Club.
Great Early Season Day
Weather was great and the course was in decent shape for having just had the greens worked on. Early season golf for this altitude and had a great day, did not disappoint.

Shining Mt. No Easy Task yet Impressive Layout
Beautiful layout, goes deep into the mountains near Woodland Park with impressive views of Pikes Peak. But, no easy course by any means-blind shots, super narrow fairways, lots of out of bounds. Dirt or gravel cart paths, which are steep and angled on a few holes.
Unless you are a really low handicap, you have to play SM a few times just to understand the layout-you will lose some golf balls on this course, but probably find replacements looking for yours. Innovative layout with some really awesome holes, few are easy but most are simply beautiful. Good course, will come back next year, was in overall nice shape. Slow play because of the difficulty.
Awesome
Play here every time we get to go to Colorado from Texas. Love It!
Tough But Fair Challenge
Played this course for the first time two years ago and did not like it. Course conditions were poor, and I was not a fan of narrow fairways with OB and red stakes on either side of most fairways. Played it for the second time today, and I came away with a better appreciation for it. Conditions were still the same, but I focused more on shot placement and was rewarded. Only lost one ball in the protected marsh areas that you are not allowed to go in to. Driving range is still a disaster.....you must hit off mats that warped, torn and not level. Range balls are so old most are smooth with no dimples. DO NOT attempt to walk this course. Too hilly and long stretches between greens and next tee box.

Great place to spend the day
We have played this course numerous times. From the time we arrive till the time we left it was a great experience, The staff let us get an early start. There were only about 3 groups playing. The course was in great shape. We got to see wild life and some very scenic areas. What a great place to play. We will definitely be back before the closing on October 7th.
Thanks again for a great day.

A course worth playing
Mountain course at 8200'. Scenic views of Pike Peak. Course in amazing condition. Some blind shots and you better hit it straight down the middle. Even then, it could roll off the fairway. Fast greens, chip shots didn't hold and putts were quick. I wouldn't recommend trying to walk, you need to be a Billy goat on the back 9 especially. Loved the course and hope to play it again.

New management(?) is tired...
The idea that an 18-hole course exists in Woodland Park is pretty amazing, much appreciated. That said, how hard can it be run the place like an actual business instead of an unorganized startup? The cart paths are 'fun' because of the possibility of crashing a cart into one of the 3-foot deep ravines from rain wash. Some run-off mitigation would save the cart paths from further damage, and carts from becoming tired and abused. The black mold on the greens has begun to subside. How did it get a foothold in the first place (neglect)? At peak it was pretty disgusting and makes one wonder if they are bringing the stuff home. The course is fully bring-your-own beer (BYOB). The beer cart is atrociously unreliable and the rear axle appears about to fall off. Last time the driver was MIA and seen with the cart in the bushes (boyfriend? pot? sleeping?). This time, the drivers minor child was on board while the back 9 only was covered. By the time we made it to the back 9 the beer cart was parked back at the clubhouse. Finally, accepting feedback isn't an art form, there's a right way and wrong way. The right way: pay attention, grab a pen and paper and start writing. Repeat back a summary of what you heard from your notes. ASK what the customer's expectation is of the affected service. Indicate your notes will be delivered to the right person. Follow up! When someone complains to you they will definitely complain to their friends!

We're very sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your round with us. We will pass along your detailed feedback to our management staff to take into consideration.
Great afternoon
Shame it was cart path only due to rain and course staff failing to not water.

Mountain Course With Mountain Views
My wife and I played this course twice during the first week of September. We try to play every time we are in the Woodland Park area. The views of Pikes Peak and the surrounding mountains are amazing. This is a unique and challenging golf course. The greens are uniformly in great shape and fast. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Playing this course represents one of the highlights of our vacation.

Disc Golf Review
The disc golf courses off the main golfing course are excellent. WELL maintained!!!
Played the course on the traditional golf course as well. Pristine...
I lost a disc that I love. It was returned to the club house. Bre, an awesome employee
drove my disc back to me in the Springs. Unbelievable. I tried to tip her and she refused.
I wish I could remember one more gal's name that drove the refreshments because she was a
doll that Saturday the 1st of Sept. I haven't experienced this kind of hospitality in years. Thanks
a ton!

One tough course. Bring plenty of balls and consider leaving your driver in the car.
