Careful Booking
I booked a tee time for 4 and one of the guys cancelled. I told the lady checking me in there would only be 3 and she said ok and started entering info into the computer. I assumed she was crediting me for the round, I paid upfront through their website. I waited a week and there was no credit on my card. I called and they would not give us a refund for 4th and said I can't cancel the same day. This is understandable if they are busy and it cost them revenue but we were the only ones on the course. All the tee times for an hour before and an hour after were open. I have played there a couple times a year in the past but won't go back.
Good day out late in the season
The hot deal popped up on golfnow.com. it was too tempting to pass on it. The forecast was cold and windy, but hey we Coloradans know how to adapt. The staff was super friendly and apologized for the front 9 being closed. A short warm-up and off I went, 36F with~15-20mph winds, first off!
#10 is like a ski run, green, screamer downhill, some dull yellow range balls in the landing area to remind you to hit white or bright yellow off the tee, a bit blind for the 2nd shot, try to keep it dry between the hazards. #11-13 were downwind/cross wind, fun! The fairways were in really good shape! #15 was a bit challenging 235y into the wind. Good fun.
Despite the frozen ground 1/2" below the green, the greens were actually receptive. #18 is a good finishing hole with adjustments for the uphill approach, 3 clubs with wind today.
It warmed up to 46F.
Good day. Thanks!
Punched Greens = Sandy
Unfortunately charging full price for horrible Greens!
Pretty good course but amenities and management lacking
No cart girl, no range balls included and you have gas carts with no GPS. There wasn't a starter so there were to guys teeing off in front of us like three minutes before our tee time. Everything was delayed and we were held up every hole so the round was very slow. This course itself is pretty challenging and nice. Everything was pretty well kept though some greens were try and very fast with a little brown color.
Needs better management and amenities IMO and this could be a very nice place.
Quality round
King's Deer is in great shape. The folks in the clubhouse and those working on the course are always quite courteous. Lot of risk and reward with this layout. Greens roll true. Can’t wait to come back.
Tuesday golf
The course was in excellent condition and very busy when I first got there, youth programs.
I was surprised that they didn't fix the pins to avoid then need to touch them and they had ball washers. Other COVID precautions i.e. no bunker rakes, no cast in pro shop, no water on the course were there.
Otherwise, single person to a cart and I was a nice round.
Kings deer, what a course!
Awesome condition, quick greens, fun layout... links style course. Lots of fun
it was a good experience and I will be looking for another hot deal so I can take a buddy or two
the staff was friendly and available if need I had no issues, but I kind of knew what to do and how to go about doing it . I had a great experience and it was a great value. I am looking to go back with a couple of buddies next time with the covid -19 thing it was a good time
Slow and gimmicky
No starter made pace of play a nightmare. There are tons of blind tee shots that make it impossible for someone new to know where to go. The greens were gimmicky and in pretty rough shape with lots of bounces. Only plus is that the layout is pretty cool. Riding is a must.
Great value
Time course was in great shape! The greens were a little dry but this made putting better. The layout of the course is changing enough to make all ability levels work for a good score.
Course is not worth the money
I rarely write reviews for courses, but I felt compelled after my experience today. Kings Deer has been a course I have played several times growing up in the area; however, in recent years they have started to price themselves out of the market. Since they are one of two courses in Monument, it appears they are using the limited demand to inflate prices and hope we, the consumer, continue to stay inelastic in our demand. $70 for a round at Kings Deer is absurd, especially when the greens are in terrible shape and the bunkers are in such disrepair that they have to be covered up and labeled GUR. It is the middle of June and it was apparent many of the greens were not taken care of. I think you'll be thoroughly disappointed if you spend $70+ on a round of golf here.
Great Links Course for CO
Tough track for first timers. Had a great day and was lucky to be paired up with repeat players.
Good Early Season Round
Very enjoyable round. Probably the best early season conditions we've experienced at this course in the dozen years we've been playing it. A few rough spots on the greens which is understandable given the harsh winter conditions it usually experiences, but the fairways were in pretty good shape, Beautiful blue sky day although it was a little windy. Three of us in our late-60s walked the course as we always do. Range and putting green were open. Staff was very friendly and they had a beverage cart circulating throughout the course. In another month, this course will be top of the line. We'll be back.
